  1. NOT $23.00 just $22:99 at http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=KI-K48020
  2. Now available also from Lucky Models - perhaps at the best price? http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=KH80102
  3. Top Pictures is a CF-18 modernised from a "A" to "C" standard bottom image is original "A" standard. At first glance the differences arent all that noticable. These are Canadian Hornets. The USAF F-18A instramentation is virtualy Identical to the Canadian however thier F-18C where built as "C" models and are not upgrades. Final image is from the DACO Publications superb book on the F/A18-A/B/C/D Hornet this shows the USAF "C" panel. The top image here has been changed as my original post showed the back seaters (DOH!) panels and my comments were based on that image. My error and my
  4. Sorry for the delay in uploading these but I think from these you should be able to see that the 2 panels you mention are indeed not on the F-18A/B. Probably the cleanest top shot I have from my friend Rick-
  5. If your talking about the two square panels one behind the other in the spine of the F-18 then the answer is NO they are not on the F-18A/B. Off to work just now will post pictures tonight.
  6. Anytime. I have loads of pictures of CF-18A/B structuraly the Canadian Hornet is virtualy identical to anyone elses Hornet. So if you need other info I'll be happy to post what I have.
  7. As mentioned elsewhere these are reinforcing brackets and that are found on the F-18A/B, later models have built in strengtheners so the vertical stab roots so don’t require these additions. As dedalus says these are easy to scratch build from card/putty I am posting a 2 pictures to show the taper that these have and to let you see that the “outer†elbow of the “L†needs a little putty to achieve its concave form. Also note the additional reinforcing plates on the vertical stabs (immediately behind the convoy strips) these are found ONLY on one side
  8. Très cool! For the benefit of those who haven’t been to Cold Lake-the fishing is good and the Mosquitoes are indeed large !
  9. I have been waiting a long time for this one as well and I think we this one will NOT disappoint. I saw test shots for it in June, alongside the F-5A, the parts where on the sprues so sorry there was no test fitting however the general shape looked right and the panel lines where the best yet being finer and not as deep as the F-5 they are the best rendition of panel lines to date that I have seen from kinetic. Note the price is almost $10 more than the F-5 however as I saw this beside the F-5 I can tell you The T-45 dwarfed it!!
  10. Thanks for the clarification Squezzer. For 1/72 modelers the CBLS is available in resin from Jenesis Design and 1/48 is available from David Parkins. When I said this was "the first time" these where available I ment as part of an plastic injection moulded kit.
  11. Some of the suggestions re French aircraft are indeed under consideration by Kinetic so stay tuned. As I understand things the single seat Mirage 2000 is immanent - probably in the next 2 months. The Hornet will be a little time yet, I have a special interest in this as I was one of two people who made a trip to RCAF 4 Wing at CFB Cold Lake to do a walk around for Kinetic, I have high hopes for this kit which like the F-5A the markings alone should be worth the cost of the kit! More on the Italeri Jaguar http://sepecat.info/b/2012/02/14/future-release-of-jaguar-148-models-by-italeri/ Note
  12. Due to the fact that the Kinetic kit is now available I have added this as a separate post that will perhaps allow discussion of the actual model rather than speculation on a unknown See- http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=KI-K48020 The decal sheet alone is worth the price of admission! The following are ACTUAL test shots (Please compare to Kinetics images on Lucky and that will confirm this fact)the different plastics do not mean that Kinetic are reviving a Matchbox tradition but are due to the simple fact that test shots use whatever plastic is at hand and not necessaril
  13. Hi Sebastian, I have just spent 4 days hanging out around Mirage 2000’s these where the 2000-5/2000d and 2000N. As I am building the Kinetic 2000 as a “N†I paid a lot of attention to colour. Kinetic instructions for the upper fuselage Grey FS 36375 look right to me. The suggested Green is a mix of FS36375 (far too bright on its own) and “Intermediate Blue†may work as a mix however I will probably be painting my Mirage using Medium green FS34102 as a base – I may darken it down a little with an “olive†green but that won’t be de
  14. I dont know if this is going to be of any help but Kinetic will announce a new F-5A "soon".
  15. Re “The original Phantom Huey was made to have the rotors turn with a motor and batteries...†How awful! I have never been a big fan of moving parts and battery operated props/rotors are an abomination! If the kit gearbox can be “adjusted I’ll do so if not then I’ll learn to live with it. I hadn’t looked at or considered the landing skids however what you say makes sense, I keep a decent stock of brass for just such occasions and well replace the kit gear as suggested. Thanks for input all noted for build time.
  16. I have read and copied the info from the Hyperscale post very useful and will be used when I get to the build your time and input much appreciated. As I have another two (Revell/Monogram and Esci 1/48 scale)I'll look into the DVD, thank you.
  17. A friend of mine has decided to dump his model collection, lucky for me he dumped them into my lap! The collection is small and some of the kits have been started one of the kits is a Monogram 1/24th Scale Huey. He started the kit and has cleaned up most of the parts hes done a great job scratch building the seating for the front office and the instrumentation other than that the kit is unassembled. Im not really a copper-guy so I havent a clue where to look for information on this kit and would like to know if its worth my time to complete the kit and how good/bad a kit it i
  18. Hi Paul, If you want wait on the "latest and greatest" (c:#* ..... In 1/48th scale there are 3 new F-4 Phantoms in the works, Academy is working on a F-4B(N?) Tamiya on a F-4B/N and a 3rd manufacturer is also working on a F-4 Phantom (mark unknown at this time).
  19. It has been a good thread and I doubt that its over yet. I’m happy that I could help and delighted to see what others have chipped in.
  20. Nice work on the Hawk sir! I didn’t recess the wheel well’s, which is a very nice touch with your build, I think that even if you do nothing else aluminum pipe for the burner is a must as indeed you pointed out. I did however close the speed brake and your right it was a bit of a bear to get a proper fit. I was very surprised by the Airfix hawk when it came out, as it was much better than I had expected! My main gripe with it (as I have said ad nauseam) is that I would have liked some form of representation of the acrylic band on the canopy that supports the blast plate between
  21. Re Revell 1/32nd scale Hawk All of you form an orderly line - behind me! (c:#* I asked Mike R. on Saturday for just such a set when I emailed him to let him know that I had air mailed pictures to him. He hasnt responded but Id say it will all depend on if he feels that the market will be large enough to warrant all of that work. The Revell kit is nice and can be worked up to a very presentable Hawk and would certainly make a first class base for converting into a Hawk 100 series. Fingers crossed.
  22. Chris, Glad the Hawk pictures where of value there are a couple more cockpit pictures at the end of this post that along with my earlier pictures should give a fair idea as to the layout of Canadian Hawks interior. The R&R nose is good and certainly an improvement on the Airfix Hawk 100 kit, the Italeri Kit is a Hawk T1, as is the Airfix Red Arrows boxing of the Hawk, therefore the Italeri kit has a shorter nose as found on the T1 which is wrong for the NFTC Hawk as these are BAe Hawk Mk. 115s. The Italeri T1 kit (also sold by Tamiya with two metal pilots that should make g
  23. No point adding that signs in the City of Calgary no one reads them anyway. If stupidity on the road was an Olympic event Calgary would take Gold Silver and Bronze every time. The worst offenders are bicycles and a very close second are the Calgary Police, perhaps following their example is part of the reason that driving standard are so bad here? At “District 9†(yeh I know there’s a joke somewhere in that name!) it’s not uncommon for the cops going on duty to turn on the blue and reds stopping traffic then run the red light turn off the blue and red turn right then ri
