  1. Finally got the pics online. Still looking for a kit and can't find the squadron marking anymore but think I saved it at work.
  2. Some other pics including one in overall nmf. http://57thbombwing.com/gallery2/main.php?..._serialNumber=5 http://57thbombwing.com/gallery2/main.php?..._serialNumber=3 http://57thbombwing.com/gallery2/main.php?..._serialNumber=3 I would go with the one Steve found on the Monogram snap kit but looks like an easy enough thing to paint.

    what ifs.

It really depends on the contest. If they have a Hypothetical category, what ifs will almost always end up there. If they don't have such a category, they could end up in the category they fit better (aircraft, armor, ship, etc) or in the Miscellaneous category depending on the head judge(s). A lot of contests let the entrant place their model where they want it judged. I have seen contests with what ifs in both the Hypothetical and Aircraft categories. Either the judges don't mind (since historical accuracy is not a judging criteria) or they don't realize it is a whiff (always good fun f
  4. I am in also. Lucked out and got one of the last prizes last year. Also have a few kits that haven't sold yet. Will see about adding a few for the raffle.
  5. 4 on Saturday (official Trick or Treat day in Utah) and 3 on Sunday. Course, my daughter stopped by with her friends before they headed off to another house so they each got a handfull. Best costume I heard of but didn't see was one of my co workers daughters and her friend. They made sweatshirts that said Ceilings #1 and the same on some foam fingers (the kind from sporting events). So what were they? Ceiling fans.
  6. Thanks also from me for the info. I will be in NYC on business but only for 2 nights. Fly in late afternoon on Sunday the 10th and fly out very early Tuesday. My associate and I have been looking for things we can fit in a couple of 4-5 hr periods at night to see. I have only been there once (June, 2001) and did catch the Intrepid and the Statue (a friend's sister was a Ranger there so got to go up to the crown before any of the tourists arrived. We will be down in the Financial area so should be able to see Ground Zero, etc. Think we decided to pass on paying to go in the Empire State
  7. Model made by students at the University of Herts depicting a scene from Dr Strangelove Then there is the new kit coming soon that was shown at the Nationals

  9. Your welcome John. And if John is interested in one of your kits, feel confident to sell to him.
  10. Our tour guide said he wants them to stand the ladder up next to it. He also told us while all the F-117s are in storage, they are at Tonapah. The A-10s were flying the whole time we were at Pima, 3-5 of them buzzing the field. Don't care what anyone says, it is a pretty picture when they come off a target run.
  11. Last time I was back was in 2008 for my Mom's heart surgery. The hobby shop I saw in Dover had just closed the week before (still had the stock on the shelves). The one I had found back in 2000 was also gone. Don't know of anything down by Rehoboth but could be something down that way.
  12. Shawn, Didn't finish anything I was working on so just took 3 kits for display, 2 on the What If tables and one on the Classic British Kits table. Actually didn't spend that much in the Vendors as I barely had enough to make the trip and had to share a room to do it (was with Ralph Forehand so got to hear lots of great stories and met some people I probably wouldn't have otherwise). Picked up some 72nd armor and a LCA just before the Vendors finished cleaning up and got the lot for about half price. Rareplane-Detectives had kits on special price the whole show and had a bunch of 72nd aircr
  13. Yes, those are for jet engine storage. They pull the engines and seal them up. Also makes them easier to transport.
  14. Thanks for the comments guys. I tend to shot a lot of pics to help me remember what was there and love to share so others can see what they missed (and maybe make plans to attend a future show). I sometimes get so tied up in taking the pictures that I never really get a chance to look at the details themselves. This time I made the effort to stop shooting and start peering at the ones I really liked. I also got a chance to talk to several of the modelers in the area and on the tour bus and, to me, that is really the greatest part of going to any show (OK, looking at models and visiting the
  15. The F-4 had recently been repainted in the Thunderbird scheme. There is a plastic tarp over the bird which, according to one of our guides who works there, wasn't on the day before. It is sitting in the new construction area so may have been for protection as already noted.
  16. Ok, I shot dioramas, Space & Sci-Fi, Displays and the Pima/AMARG tour. Those photos should all be up in the National Gallery by now. Also shot a few extra. So if you are interested, check them out: Show Part I Show Part II Pima Air Museum AMARG National Gallery is here.
  17. Didn't go to the awards show but poked my head in just as they awarded the George Lee Memorial Award (Best of Show) and this is it.
