So who is coming to Phoenix for the IPMS Nationals this August??
Philp replied to Two Mikes's topic in General Discussion
That is an awful long walk for milk. Think she may catch on. -
The Needle was fun but that was back in '92. There were a couple good shops if I recall. American Eagles was one. Not sure what it is like now.

Looks like I will be able to make it after all. We are planning to really do up the Display area and the What If SIG will be taking as many as 4 tables. Also got a display coming from England and another from Argentina. Make sure you stop by and say hi. -
Yesterday was the local show and looked like it went pretty well. I did see Zactoman there but didn't get a chance to say hey. Vendors area was lacking again. Found a local who casts his own figures, mainly Jon Carter on Mars series but some nice ladies as well. He is also working on some Historic miniatures so will have to keep an eye out. Another guy had a bunch of decals and photoetch including some older decals but his prices were way too high. So, my wallet stayed safely in my pocket. The models were extremely well done as they usually are at a Utah show. I heard a little over 400

Depends on what you like. Here is a list of stuff close by. There are also several decent places at the Gateway.

LHS was clearing a guys collection and I picked up 2 Pink Panther Mobiles for $10 each. Put one on eBay and got over $80 for it. Been debating on building the other or selling it off.

Thanks for the warning. Are you vending this year?

Set up probably not until Saturday morning. Doubt they paid for an extra day to set up Friday. Registration starts at 9am so set up is probably between 7-9. Several nice shops in SLC. West Valley Hobbies and Douglas Models are the two main stores with WV having a better selection of plastic IMHO. Great Models is also located in Sandy but not sure if they have an open door policy anymore. If you like armor, there is a special trip available to a private armor collection in Toole (think there is a $30 fee for the bus ride, etc) but it is well worth the look. The guy has some awesome stuff

The SLC shows are usually pretty good. Lots of models on the tables, overall pretty high quality and very fair judging (and no, I don't plan on judging this year). Vendors is usually no where near the size you would expect for this size of show. Mostly 3-5 guys clearing out their stashes. But, you will find lots of great deals from these locals. With Ogden not having a show this year (as far as I know), some of the vendors who usually go there may come down for this one in which case there may be a shop or two showing off some of the latest. Vendor price is pretty decent so I may see if

I usually sell used In Action books for $5 but that is just me. They go for all kinds of prices but if you are selling to someone who plans to resell them, they will want to mark them up so they can make something off them also. Good luck (having done this for a couple of modelers in the past).

Have seen more What If builds showing up here so thought I would post this. For the 2nd year, I have run an impromptu contest taking nominated what if builds, profiles, stories, etc and putting them into an Awards type show similar to the Oscar's (in thought if not in extravegance). I just posted the Awards Ceremony this evening and if you would like to take a look, feel free. The Whiffies

More nice stuff Shawn. I got a pic of this Hooligan at Big Sky Days back in the early 70's.

It is looking good. Might try some of this to make a M6 Bomb truck.

Nice job so far. Will keep my eyes on this one as I would love to do an airfield dio or two in the future.
-
Nice job. I also want to get this kit again and do it right.

Jay beat me to the link. Lots of good info on there. My brother built the UFO kit when he was a kid and if suffered over the years. I will be picking up at least one of these but have decided on whether to do the Lief or Macarthur.

I have the 72nd scale version. It isn't as detailed as the larger scale kit but it fits in with my collection better.

Aww, I feel better now.
