  1. Here's its entry in the LSP Kit Database: http://www.largescaleplanes.com/Marketplace/lsp_kitlist/kit_details.php?kit=1941 Kev
  2. Thanks Jennings, that's awesome. Is this the standard configuration on all 737-300s? I know for sure that the scheme I'm doing doesn't feature any corrogard panels on the upper wings, for instance. Kev
  3. Thanks Scott. So it looks like, on the inboard sections, only the top half is silver/aluminium? And it doesn't appear to be a continuous section along the wing, as I notice there's a break just outboard of the engine pylon. Could be tricky to paint! Kev
  4. Hi fellas, I've started building my Minicraft 737-300 kit, which will be finished as an Ansett Airlines machine using Flightpath decals (FP44-214). The kit was discussed in some detail in a previous thread, and I want to thank Ben Brown for coming up with some window decals for the build (which the Flightpath set lacks). Anyway, my question regards the finish of the wing leading edges. The Flightpath instructions simply state to finish the leading edges of wings, tailplanes and fin in aluminium. The Minicraft painting guide for the supplied Delta livery suggests finishing only the wing leadi
  5. It looks to me like it's actually much closer to 1/160 than 1/300 - especially when compared to the 1/300 A340 he shows at the end of the video. The 737 kit doesn't look that much smaller than my 1/144 kits. Kev
  6. That's incredible. Never heard of the manufacturer, and there doesn't seem to be any information about what kind of kit it is (IM, vac, etc). Didn't someone announce an An-225 in 1/144 in the last couple of years? Amodel? Whatever became of that? Kev
  7. None at all mate. The Draw Decals are from their 'Digital Silk' range, and while I'm not sure what that process entails, they definitely show signs of being printed on consumer equipment (up close, the kangaroo decal is made up of very fine horizontal white lines). They're a little temperamental, but colour density is good. There's perhaps a tiny hint of pink in the white kangaroo, but it's only noticeable due to the close proximity of the pure white of the fuselage, and even then it's probably my imagination. Kev
  8. Just completed the base, and thought I'd throw in a photo with the model in position: Auto-focus seems to have locked onto the base rather than the model, but I think it's a pretty effective display for something so simple. Kev
  9. Thanks fellas, much appreciated! Yeah, I'd love to build some more of these kits in other Aussie liveries, and I'm pretty sure you're right about Ansett being one of them. In fact, Revell has actually released one with Australian Air Express (TNT) markings in the box. Not sure it's up to Expo standards Tony, but I might bring it along for kicks anyway. We'll see. Kev
  10. Beautiful build Jarrod! If I ever get hold of this kit, I'll be building mine in the same livery. Nice to know there are decals around for the old Trident kit too. I've got one in the stash, but I haven't touched it yet because the Airfix decals are horrible. Kev
  11. I've been working on this one on and off in the background for some weeks now. It was meant to be a quick build, but all manner of the usual complications slowed it down. Anyway, I've had a push over the last week or so to get it finished, and now it is! Despite having lots of (self-inflicted) flaws, I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Decals are from Draw Decals. I just can't go past the classy elegance of that red and white Qantas livery! And here's a shot of the model posed on the base print I'm currently preparing the wood for: As always, thanks for looking! Kev
  12. Wow, that looks great mate! Really makes me want to build mine now. Kev
  13. Thanks mate. As it happens I've received no reply whatsoever (other than an automated one) from Round 2 to my parts request, which is disappointing. Mike and I have agreed to swap parts, as he's interested in the resin piece. I just have to get organised and send it off to him! Kev
  14. What an awesome result! One of the most impressive 747 models I've seen. Kev
  15. Just to wrap this up, I received my tin of Xtracolor Airbus Grey from Sandle Hobbies today, which is good. But I've still had no communications whatsoever from them over the transaction, which is appalling I think. In the end, I'm just glad to have the paint I need, and to not have wasted any money in the process. Thanks everyone for your help and advice. Kev
  16. Thanks Mike! PM on its way shortly... FWIW, I got a request off to Round2 about spare parts, but have had nothing but an automated reply so far. Kev
  17. Interesting. I'd already been all over their website, and all I could find was an emphatic statement that they could not supply spare parts for any kit produced by earlier incarnations of Polar Lights. I certainly never came across this kit! I just assumed I was out of luck. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll contact them shortly. Kev
  18. Cool! Thanks for letting me know. Kev
  19. Any information from Thomas, mate? Kev
  20. Just thought I'd update this thread with the news that, out of the blue, Sandle Hobbies charged my bank account yesterday for the price of one tin of paint, plus postage. I've had no communication from them whatsoever, so here's hoping I actually receive the paint, and it's the right colour! Kev
  21. Thanks for your kind words fellas - much appreciated! If it makes you feel any better, I'm normally one of the slowest builders around (I have a 1/32 Fw 190S conversion that's been going more than 2 years now). I built this one at the tail end of my Christmas holiday break, so I had plenty of time to work on it. The kind of kits I normally build require a lot more time and effort than this one! Kev
  22. Indeed they are! It's one of the more difficult aspects of a 190 build to get right. They not only cant inwards, but forwards as well. The entirety of the main wheels is meant to be forward of the wing leading edge. I think this kit gets the inward cant right, but not the forward one (it does cant forward, but probably not by enough). Compared to this kit, I had a nightmare trying to get the landing gear right on recent ProModeler D-11 build, and made a complete basket case of it. Kev
  23. Hi fellas, I started this one immediately after finishing a ProModeler D-11, with the aim of completing it before I went back to work for 2012 (which gave me about 4 days at the time). Although I managed to completely assemble the model in 24 hours, and basically paint it in another 24 hours or so, it took me a long time to deal with the kit decals (by which time I was already back at work). So, it took about a week to finish in the end. It's also the first model I've painted with my H&S Evolution airbrush, and I'm still on a learning curve with that one. Anyway, enough yap - on with the
  24. Ah, I see. So the saucer is is different, but also there's a third engine above and behind it. I don't think those other parts are in my box, but I'll double-check. Thanks for the info! Kev
  25. Just spoke to someone at Showcase Models on the phone. They don't stock that colour but can get it in, but they won't place an order for just one colour (which I understand). They do have the Boeing Gray in stock should it be a sufficient substitute (as suggested early in this thread), but they don't normally post paints, and I'm not planning a trip into town for ages! Any Gunze or Tamiya equivalents? Kev
