  1. I didn't think about that. My wife's grandfather was in that division. He was infantry, so I'd have to build something he rode on rather crewed. :P I saw a video with the 90th DUKW's. How would I do the "id badge"/license plate on a 90th DUKW? John
  2. Are there any decals for the cars from Talladega Nights? I'd really love to do the Laughing Clown car but I think I've only seen it in die cast. Not for this build, but I've been thinking of picking one of those up and dirtying it up. I will build one of Junior Johnson's cars (early nascar driver that actually went to prison for a while for running moonshine). Might need help on converting an old Impala to a race car from back then. Or, did they actually do much to the interior of the car? John
  3. I'd think that it was just leftover anxiety over the debt ceiling thing. I don't really think we're in for a big dip, but I think it's going to be a gradual climb back. John
  4. ShawnM in Missouri, and he will murder us all if you took out the Japanese seatbelts! LOL John
  5. Though I am thankfully a transplant rather than one of these crazy natives, I'll be in for one. I thought you were in California somewhere Clif. I already have a Carswell B-36 hanging from the ceiling, but I could do a B-29 in Fifi markings. :P John
  6. Thanks Jason, They're all from an aztec sheet I got a while back. It's the Latin Eagles IV sheet. http://www.aztecmodels.com/azt_prin.htm I know it is probably going to sound weird, but their decals are almost too thin! :) They snuggle down great, but you've got to be really careful with them. If you end up not using the Cuban markings, let me know and we'll work something out. John
  7. Ok, haven't posted too much in progress (these all build basically the same anyway :P) but here's where we are so far: FAU bird is a whatif Revell kit. FAG bird is the Tamiya F-51D. and the F-82 is a 1/72 Revell kit. The two Revell kits have been experiments in dealing with raised panel lines. Not sure if it shows so great in the pics, but in person I sorta like it. Just do the regular paint scheme and then lightly sand over the panel lines. Since these are both dark paint jobs, I went down to the plastic on the lines to get some decent contrast. If you're doing a light paint scheme
  8. Box is on the way. 0306 2400 0001 3099 7325 John
  9. Hey folks, One of the guys in the US box thread had what we thought might be a good idea. Our box (and it looks like yours also) is getting some stuff that has made it all the way around the circuit without being taken. What do you guys think about doing an international swap of the stuff that has been staying in the box? JasonW is in Massachusetts. Maybe when your box gets to someone near there we could send them across the border so that the postage wouldn't be so much. What do you guys think? John
  10. Got the addresses and it will go out Monday morning. Ham has a cool idea. Jason's farthest North so it could jump the border from him pretty cheap probably. John
  11. Not in the inventory folder. It probably just fell out while you were packing it, no biggie. Heck, now that I think about it, I had the inventory folder and the decal folder out at the same time so I might have put it in the decal folder. I'll check again in a second. Nope, not there either. Maybe gremlins got it. LOL No problem Jason. That'll give me a chance to look for another box anyway. The one in the garage disappeared. Next shipping method: camel. The Army turned about a dozen loose out here back in the 1850s. So I'm gonna catch one of their grandchildren. :P John
  12. This is the latest order of participants right? So I'm going to Dax next? I'll take a closer look, but I didn't see the address sheet in the box so I might need Dax's. john
  13. The box is here. The box itself is kinda squishy, so I'm going to repack it in another out in the garage. I'll likely get it back in the mail tomorrow. Before I do, I'll type up a kit inventory on here (and update the longer list in the box). Sorry, I'm too lazy to type up all those decals. haha BTW, the INJ seatbelts are still in there. :P John
  14. That's the site I originally saw Mungo. I just couldn't find any pics of an actual b-29 done up like that so I figured I'd ask. bummer, bathead's plane looked really cool. John
  15. What in the world would you use Pam for? Are you sure he wasn't huffing? LOL John
  16. I found a couple mentions of Navy B-29's (weather and aew birds). Did they just leave these NMF or did they go with dark blue? A local children's museum has a spot for a 1/48 B-29 in their model collection and thought it might be cool to do a different color. John
  17. Very cool. I'll let you guys know when it gets here. John
  18. I just finished a book on SOG missions into Laos. The author (a SOG vet) said that the first time new guys flew into their base the Vietnamese Kingbee pilots would scare the bejesus out of the new guys (who were not strapped in) by spiraling down pretty much horizontal to the ground. Passengers freaked out, but the centrifugal force kept everyone inside the aircraft. I would imagine that guys flying in the hueys would keep one hand holding onto something so they didn't fall out. I know I would. :P I'm sure at least a few people fell out over the decade that the US was involved in that
  19. Either way (a kit or other stuff), I'm cool. Jason, is there a clearance bin with a bunch of decals at your shop? That might get us the most bang. John
  20. Thanks Will. :) Sounds good to me Ham. You know though, maybe that's why we accidentally cut ourselves so much. "I'm gonna have a couple beers and then play with razor blades." LOL Since we are distracted... Anyone else try any of that Wells Banana Bread Beer? http://thebrewclub.com/2010/04/19/wells-banana-bread-beer/ It's actually pretty decent. For the most part it tastes like a slightly sweet beer (very slight) with a banana bread aftertaste. I know that sounds weird, but I like it. John
  21. You folks with the monster stashes crack me up. That said though, if you run across a 1/35 m-577 while you're digging let me know. :P John
  22. I'd rather it be in 72, but 48th is cool too. John
  23. Got the huey together. Like the truck, I need to scratch some stuff to throw inside to make it look like a hulk. At first I was going to do alot more work on the front office, but since the doors are molded shut you really can't make out too many details up there, even at this scale. I'm not sure why, but my front windshield fogged up. I dipped all of the windows in future and super glued them in. The sides were fine. I'd like to clear it up, but with all the weathering I want to do the window might fit in anyway. Also, I didn't build the engine inside the huey. I wanted to leave
  24. Glad that it's on the move again. Is the T-38 still in there? On the Gremlins, I actually put a small Gremlin in the model of a B-17 that I did a few years ago. It was a ceiling hanger that had been rammed by a 109 (straight on through the outer wing). The 109 wing was posed ripped completely off, while the 17's wing was mostly off. Inside the B-17 wing I put a little green Gremlin with the idea that he had been messing with the internal structure of the wing. John
  25. I stole the "'Merican" tag from a friend of mine. He was arguing with a Canadian pal of his and kept saying "Well, we live in 'Merica" - he was trying to sound more hillbilly than he is. So, since the ARC Canada crowd came up with a traveling goodies box, I decided ours would be the "'Merican" box. :P That does make sense that someone might glance at it and read the MeXican goodies box. John
