After reading another modeler's account of how he his USS Franklin vignette was damaged, I started thinking about the most vulnerable parts on my models. Usually it is the antennae, which I try to use metal replacements when I can, the tail fins, for which I use 10 tone epoxy and brass support struts, and the landing gear and doors. There are replacement parts done in metal, but I would like to see the gear door support struts done in Brass as well. I would be nice to have that extra support for my gear doors. I don't know how much work that this would entail, but I am putting it out there

Fantastic 1/72 MiG-21 pitots!!
A T Lee replied to Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy's topic in Jet Modeling
Those look great. I wish that somebody would make metal versions of the angled air sensors that most of the modern US aircraft use in all the major scales. -
Update, Aires Contacted me, and will be sending me the parts. Thanks again.

Thanks nikosmeta, I sent off the e-mail. Will let you know the results

Hello, Like the title says, I need a replacement tub for my Revell 1/32 F-4 kit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, A T Lee

I read an interesting article a while back in IPMS Journal about a gentleman who had to create a whole Navy Air Wing of 1/48 jets, most of which were using vac form canopies. He made corrected canopies much the same way that you did, except he made the frames from fiberglass instead of resin. That may be the way to go for whoever makes the master of the canopy frames.

No worries Klaus, We'll see these soon enough. Heck, I have been waiting for another AM company to release correction sets that has been WIP for a couple of years. To tell you honestly. it's very exciting to see the renaissance of details for the AH-1W, and the renewed interest. I'm excited. Besides, my cobra is nowhere near ready for it's canopy. At the pace I build, it will be a few months till it is ready. So, finish out your other builds, have fun with them. I look forward to the results, and I especially look forward to see you finish the AH-1 builds. Thanks, A T Lee

+1 Good Luck on your builds and on your Canopy. I look forward to seeing these in production. As to the deluxe framed version, I think that sounds cool! We will have to see if/when these come out.

Thanks Chris, I stand corrected. I didn't know that about the white metal. Maybe that's why all there are a couple of companies coming out with brass landing gear. Makes sense what you said, as there are some composites that are stronger than steel, so it makes sense that certain resins are stronger than white metal. Thanks again, A T Lee

One wish I have is that whoever makes the conversion is tha they will hopefully include metal landing gear. There's going to be a lot of resin, or metal if the manufacturer chooses to make it, for that conversion, and I don't know if rise or plastic would be able to handle the weight.
-
That's fine...I've been sitting on these whiskeys for 4 years,a few more months won't hurt... I wonder if he will offer the rotors seperately. It would be fun to build an 4BW,a s kind of the evolution of the late Cobras, not to mention I think it looks really cool...

Did this birdie give an ETA as to when this may be available?
-
I had seen that on another board. I figured if I scored one, I would pull out the putty, the sanding and filing tools, and go to work, but: ...I think I will wait. If that little birdie is the same one that makes 1/48 SH-60 updates and conversions, it will be a magnificent set indeed. Can't wait to see this one come out

I am looking to convert my 1/35 AH-1W to the Zulu format. I found an article recently that a Mr. Charles Butler had previously produced a 1/35 conversion, and was selling it, though in limited quantities. does anybody know if he still has these available for sale? Thanks, A T Lee

Hey all, To anybody that is interested, the owner of Leading Edge Decals has said that he would be willing to do the USNTPS set in 1/32, if there is enough interest. So, speak up, and and we will get to see the set produced.
-
Excellent Ideas, KEi! Another one that I am interested in is the NASA SRA F-18. BTW, The 1/32 Hasegawa offering is the prototype, but it would be an excellent platform for the X-53, or the AAW F-18. Quite Correct, Sir, but they only released a set in 1/72 and 1/48, but never in 1/32. I am hoping that he does re-release them, and maybe the 1/32 set, or maybe another decal manufacturer. Thank you for your response. Good Luck, in your endeavor. I hope the initial batch sells well, so well that we see you release a TPS set in the future. Thanks, A T Lee

Hello, I would like to make a request of the decals makers on ARC, and also the general community here on ARC. To the decal makers. Of course, as you can tell from the title, I would like to make a request for a decal set. That set is the markings for the USNTPS F-18B in 1/32, but I am sure that it would be popular in 1/48 and 1/72. I know that one decal maker made the set in 1/72 and 1/48. He sold out pretty quickly from what I understand, and that set is still a highly desired. Also, Hasegawa recently released a 1/48 F-18B recently with those markings. It sold out so fast, there are
