  1. As a kid I often saw A-10s from the first operational squadron flying up and down Myrtle Beach, SC. Years later when out working near Ft Bragg I frequently watched A-10s doing gun runs with their 30mm GAU-8 gatling gun and it's bizarre, ear tickling sound (Pope AFB at Ft Bragg had the Flying Tigers based there for a spell). The kit is the old Tamiya as it was based on the early preproduction aircraft and lacked many features on production aircraft (chaff/flare launchers etc) and other bumps that featured on production aircraft. It's old but a pretty good kit, accurate shape and pan
  2. Hello guys, Here is my last completed build and the first of 2022. This is the Italeri reboxing of the Kinetic kit. It's a plane from the french AF Escadron 3/3 Ardennes during Operation Musketeer (Suez canal crisis, 1956), based in Akrotiri, Cyprus. The ID stripes are not the usual Yellow/black but rather midstone and white/black. The number of allied aircraft on base (over 200) led to a lack of yellow paint and use of replacement hues. As usual your comments and inputs are most welcome. Stef (#6)
  3. HELLO AND GREETINGS FROM ALGERIA ! 😀 I present to you my 1/48 Trumpeter Sukhoi Su-24 M, known as the copycat of the F-111. The Fencer is used by the Algerian Air Force since the '90's and had three or four overhauls since. Algerian Fencers had also upgrades; especially in their electronics. The kit was a little disapontement; It needed a lot of correction works , the exhaust part is wrongly built by Trumpeter. The kit was improved with the SU-24 Exterior PE made by Eduard, added a metal nose antenna from Master Model and some home made decals (cockpit dashboard, instruments, insign
  4. Something a little different and not quite out of the box. I took Revell's (Monogram?) A-6E, Steel Beach KA-6D conversion, Quinta KA-6D 3D decals for the cockpit and AOA Decals to create a KA-6D Intruder. The Steel Beach kit was designed for the Kinetic kit but it worked fine with the Revell kit. I used AOA Decals 48-006 to model a KA-6D from VA-196 Main Battery from the 1972-73 time period. Hope you like it. Thanks for looking Geoff M
  5. A quyick build to get the year started. Monogram golden oldie built quickly so I can start an F-16 for the group build that is starting. Monogram 1/48 F-15A #5801 Caracal Decals F-15 The Early Years Pics
  6. Hi all! Does anyone have a source for either an original or replacement canopy (more precisely the sliding hood) for the 1/48 HASEGAWA F4U-4? The original in my kit was damaged when removing it from the sprue tree and a Falcon replacement I received from an eBay user last year was crushed in the mail. The kit is mostly built with the ancient Verlinden cockpit and flaps set and some True Details wheels. I just need the canopy to get it painted in GSB and wrapped up with decals. Thanks in advance! Mike B

  8. Hi comrades! Here is my take on old kit. Lot's of aftermarket used, some corrections were scratch-built. Thanks for looking
  9. So as it turns out thanks to some generous assistance, I am going to have a 1/48 Hawker Typhoon to build! I knew what markings I wanted to go with: the red spinner with yellow spiral and full invasion stripes. It took a little looking to pin it down, but I found that it was from # 123 Squadron. The only problem is I can't seem to track down any decals. Sprue Brothers, eBay, and Google have all come up empty. I don't typically do RAF aircraft so can anyone point me to a source for some decals? Thanks in advance- any help is appreciated!
  10. Dear eagle fans, today I got a great aftermarket set from Kopecky Scale Models. Maybe most of you don't know this new company, but the quality of detail is very good. Therefore I started this topic and want to share with you some detailed pictures of the F-15c pylons. The surface of the resin parts is so smooth, no rework needed. Available here: https://www.kopeckyscalemodels.com/product-page/48007-f-15c-late-pylons-rails
  11. Hi folks. Apparently, when it comes to Hornets, all the fuss is about the new Meng kit (and to some extent Hobby Boss kit). And I'd love to build them both (even better, along the Revell, Hasegawa and Italeri kits). However, I noticed I have a lot of good to say about the Hasegawa legacy Hornet, even being as good as much more modern Kinetic kit. Considering I've built one and a lot of time ago, I suppose its finally time to put my money where my mouth is, right? And it just happens to be a time when I ran out of stash storage space so I need to get rid of some boxes! The
  12. Hello, I am looking for either the Caracal 48034, or SuperScale 48-1201. I am looking for the Arkansas ANG jets, with the Razorback noseart and engine pod art. If you have either one that you are willing to part with, please let me know. Thanks in advance, A T Lee
  13. This is my recent project. A very nice kit, without any issues, except for the clear parts for the Maverick missiles; they just don’t fit into their places. Used Eduard canopy masks and PE for the cockpit, and metal pitot tube/cannon. Only thing I’d change would be the rubber tires. I mean, they’re ok, but if they had resin, for instance, those would take a better weathering. Decals were also good. Hope you enjoy. Cheers! George
  14. MH-60M 'Mike' medium assault (not DAP) JSOC, any build or conversion recs for 1/35 or 1/48?? At last check, JSOC uses 50% of its helos in the MH-60M "medium assault" configuration and is their essential "workhorse" Surely there is some avenue to reproduce this workhorse in either 1/35 aor 1/48 scale, I realize that Cobra Company had a MH-60M upgrade, It may never reappear unfortunately...any ideas, thought, recommendations? What is the closest? the UL airframe was the closest to the one MH-60M uses, not the K or L model Can something be done with the UH-60 / MH-60 B
  15. Today I ordered these decals. What kit do I need to make this happen? Don't matter the company, but a good one will be sought out to use. IE - Hasegawa Any F-16C Block xxxx Hasegawa Kit # XXXX Thanks for the help. Cheers
  16. Hi there, This my recente project, one of those very nice Eduard Migs 21. Used canopy masks, interior PE and metal pitot tube. No issues at all and, despite being a little bit worried about the “tiger stripes” decals, they turned out great. Very thin and went well with Mr Softer. These aircraft had this commemorative painting only for a relatively short period of time, so I decided to weather just enough to show the dirt that comes from normal flying, i.e., didn’t degraded the paint to have too many scratches and/or chipping. Hope you enjoy! Cheers!
  17. Hello guys, Here's my last completed model, the Zvezda, 1/48 Lavochkin La-5FN, white 22, from 2 GIAP (Aviation regiment of the Guard). The yellow scribing reads "Mongolsky Arat", workers of Mongolia, whose donation funded 12 aircrafts in the squadron. This the first of the Zvezda's "new tooling", and was build out of the box, decals from the Avalon range. Quite easy build but for the soft plastic and the engine cowling is a bit tricky, as there are lots of parts to align. Paints from the Gunze acryl range, various mixes of RLM76 as basis, with black and blue.
  18. The Tiger I was constructed first and was thematically a straight follower of my previous tank, HB T-34 in 1/48. This was clearly a Tamiya kit and went together easily (as opposed to the HB kit) and had crisp details and flash free parts. It comes with a metallic chassis which, according to some modelers, simplifies parts of the suspension details. Could be, but most of it will be hidden behind the typical German multi-wheel chassis assembly anyway. I wanted a machine used on the Eastern front and I wanted it in Tank Gray. TS-4 was used as a base paint and weathering was done with oils, enamel
  19. Hello! This is my first finished project this year, the very well known and praised Tamiya P-47 1/48 kit. Nothing to add, really, a superb kit. Only some small stencils did not behave well and…disintegrated. C’est la vie! Since these especific birds didn’t operate for too long, war ending in Europe was months away, I kept the weathering at a minimum, just some dirt from the airfields, but not too many scratches and chipping… Canopy masks from Eduard, guns from Model Masters and seat belts from scratch. Hope you enjoy! Cheers
  20. Hello, This is my Corsair, a well known and excellent kit from Tamiya. Everything OOB except for the masks for the canopy. No issues at all and the decals were really good. Hope you enjoy. Cheers!
  21. Hello Everyone Adi here . . . I wanted to make a Snowy Base for the Finnish AF Hawker Hurricane which I just completed. To make the base I use Plywood and cover this with acrylic putty. I use baking powder to sprinkle the base for the Snow Effect. I make trees using wooden kitchen skewers and single strand wire. For the branches I used dried grass as I did not have access to Woodland Scenics Sea Foam. I make my own flocking using a sponge and I churn it in the mixer. I make two different shades of green. I spray the trees with diluted PVA Glue and sprinkl
  22. Hello Everyone, The Tamiya Hawker Hurricane Mk.I is a Superb kit, although its an Italeri rebox. The kit is a simple straight forward build and its a New tooling for the Hurricane in 1/48 scale. The detail is great out of the box for this scale and the panel lines are not overdone. The overall fit is great too. Decals provided are great with lots of options, a bit thick IMHO. I really liked the Finnish AF colors. The kit is built OOB and no mods are done. The paints used are locally available Acrylics and are airbrushed. For the c
  23. Hello, This is my last build model - EA-18G from Italeri in 1/48 scale. Model stright from the box, only aftermarket are "Afterburner Decals" and pilots from Hasegawa set. It shows Growler BuNo166856 from VX-9/ September 2008. I hope you like it... All comments are welcome.
  24. F-8J Crusader - VF-24 "CHECKERTAILS" Commander aircraft U.S.NAVY Feb.1974 - kit from Hasegawa in 1:48 scale After a long time I finally managed to finish work on this model ... I hope that it is not bad with it and despite the "mistakes" you will like it ...
  25. Hello Friends, Just finished the F-15DJ of the JASDF in the Aggressor Color Scheme of Sand, Brown and Black. Academy F-15E Strike Eagle kit has been used as a donor kit and built into this F-15DJ. The model is built OOB and no mods have been used. The paints used are locally available acrylic paints. It has taken me around 20 days to build this model and I feel that it still is incomplete. Specially the decals and the stencils. Due to the pandemic I haven't been able to get my hands on the Relevant F-15DJ Decals and Stencils. Thus for th
