  1. Hello guys, Here's my last complete model, a P-38J 15 LO, from 1st Lt Clark Livingston, 392nd FS, 367th FG, seen at Juvincourt, France Dec. 1944. The Hasegawa kit is a bit of a challenge and has been fighting all the way. Paints used are AK extrem metal over a Gunze lacquer gloss black base, other shades from the Gunze acryl range. Hope you'll like her. As usual comments an critics most welcome. 2. Hi Everyone! Back once again with my latest completed project, this time the 1/48 Hasegawa A-7E Corsair II in VA-86 Sidewinders markings circa 1978 aboard the USS Nimitz. I have always been attracted to this scheme ever since seeing it in the movie "The Final Countdown". Really love the huge orange diamond on the spine aft of the cockpit. Used the Aires cockpit on this, and the fit is pretty much perfect. Highly recommended for this kit. Also used the Meng Short Range Missiles set for the Sidewinders, Hasegawa Weapons Set A for the mk. 82s, and Hasegawa Weapons Set
  3. Hello Everyone, 8th October is celebrated as Indian Air Force Day. 2020 was the 88th Air Force Day for the IAF. I present the Mirage 2000 to commemorate this day. The Mirage 2000 was upgraded by the Indian Air Force and was re designated as Mirage 2000I. The kit is from Kinetic in 1/48 scale and is built Out Of the Box. The build is simple but Kinetic hasn't mentioned much in the instructions about which parts to use for the different variants which can be modeled from one kit. So you will need to refer your references for the particular version you will be building. The
  4. Hello Friends, Presenting the Sa315B of the Indian Army. The kit is from Heller and is of the SA313 in 1/48 size. This was modified into the Sa315B. The Model is 100% Brush Painted using locally available acrylics. Stretched Sprue was made using discarded pieces of the kit sprues and was used extensively for the detail and scratch-building. The rear fuselage skeleton was chucked away as it was too thick for this scale. This was made with stretched sprue. More detail was added to this using the same stretched sprue. Cockpit was bare with littl
  5. This is my 1/48 Hobbyboss F-14D. It straight OOB with Fightertown decals. My goal was to make it look super weathered. This particular plane wasn't quite this filthy but I'm happy with how it turned out.
  6. I’ll be building my next Tamiya cat as one of the first in the fleet - VF-1 Wolfpack’s second 101 bird, which has been modeled a lot. Research is one of the things that really appeals to me in modeling, and this project has given me a lot to learn! For instance: the first VF-1 plane to be painted as NK-101 was this one, BuNo 158627. I believe it was a Block 65 machine. Note the radome without a tan front section, long gun muzzle trough (short cover), the black skunk stripe over the canopy and spine, completely white nose gear doors, pin striping around the NACA intake on the ventr
  7. Hi all! Here is my latest completed project, the Hasegawa F-14B Tomcat of VF-103 Jolly Rogers aboard the USS Dwight D Eisenhower in 1998. This project is the only one I have ever started that I did not finish straight through. I finished the cockpit put then put the build on hold as a deadline for an IPMS club contest approached, so I moved on to another project that fit into the theme of that contest. It stayed on hold for over a year before I decided to go back to it as part of an F-14 Group Build on Scalemates. As you know, this is the notorious Hasegawa Tomcat.
  8. Hello! Here’s my recent project, an Eduard (Profipack) Hellcat F6F-5 Late. It means PE, canopy masks and resin wheels included, which is great. Everything went fine, this is a very good kit. Even after I dropped some varnish all over the right wing. So, ALWAYS put the airbrush cup lid ON! Lesson learned… Hope you enjoy! Cheers!
  9. Hi all! After about 3 months, this one is finally finished! The 1/48 Academy MH-53E Sea Dragon from HM-14 Vanguard, callsign "Vulcan 552", circa 2013. This aircraft was destroyed in an accident in June 2012, but with no injuries or fatalities luckily. I have wanted to build this kit for quite some time, but wanted to wait until I felt my abilities were high enough to do it justice. Well that time is now! The Academy kit is really quite nice, great detail, and it really fits very nice everywhere. I used very little putty on this build. But there is one big achilles
  10. Hello all No sooner had I finished my BF 110 at 1/72 when I launched a new kit, which I thought was simple but which may not be so, the FM-2 Wildcat from hobby boss. The kit is simple and the number of parts is small, but we still have a nice engine and the possibility of mounting its cradle. The landing gear seems complex to assemble and very fragile. I started to assemble the cockpit, the seat was full of burrs, and the assemblies of the side consoles, in two parts, did not facilitate the assembly work. Some pictures of the kit: [/quote]
  11. Selling the last released (July 2020) detailing sets of Metallic Details: - Jet nozzles for aircraft model SR-71 Blackbird (Testors/Italeri) in scale 1/48 - $61.60 Set contains resin parts for detailing jet nozzles. - Jet nozzle for engine F100-PW for aircraft model F-16 (Tamiya) in scale 1/48 - $17.60 Set contains resin and photoetched parts for detailing jet nozzle. - Engines for aircraft model B-17G (HK Models) in scale 1/48 - $39.60 Set contains resin and photoetched parts for detailing engines. - Detailing sets
  12. Hello fellow modelers, This project had started from the April, but due to my limited time the progress was very slow and I didn't managed to post earlier. The kit I chose was Eduard's Fw 190 D-9 Late #8189 profi pack. I started assembling the first parts (cockpit, some gun bay parts, gears etc.) and then I continued with the priming. Afterwards I painted the cockpit and cockpits sidewalls with AK true metal silver, I used this layer as a base for the chipping. Then I painted using mostly AK's 3rd gen colors. Unfortunate
  13. Hello, I just received the new 1/48 Kinetic MQ-9, actually the original SkunkModelWorks with new decals. I will build it as one of the recently armed Reapers deployed by the French Armée de l'Air in Niger in support of Operation Barkhane. More specifically it will be 709-EH-132 Arnaud
  14. Hello! This is my recent project, a classic WW2 warbird. Nice kit, everything went well. Unfortunately, the clear part, which would allow to build a full open canopy, came damaged beyond repair. It had a L shape hole right on the top. So, I had to make it half open. Anyway, the plastic is very thin and clear so we can see a lot of details inside. Eduard PE were used. Hope you enjoy! Cheers!
  15. Good day to you all, It took a while, but finished (a while ago, but haven't posted until now) - 1/48 Tamiya F-16CJ (14FS Misawa). I threw all the goodies at it I could and scratch build areas where applicable. Goodies included: Eduard BIG set Eduard aim-120cs, aim-9x, sniper pod, agm-88 Eduard wheels Meng satellite guided bombs (for the gbu-31 v3) Speed Hunter Graphics SEAD Specialists Master pitot and aoa probes Master static wicks KA models exhaust GT Resin left hand side ecm pod I may have left some out and w
  16. Incredibly this is my 8th finished model this year. This has been part finished for a good 15 years, but very happy with how it turned out. Only problem was the decals which were very fragile and cracked and shattered very easily. The yellow leading edge markings were especially bad and pretty much unusable. The date on the sheet was 2003, and they've been in the loft for most of the past 17 years so perhaps I shouldn't be surprised...…I ended up raiding the decals folder for some yellow markings from an old Tamiya F-84 Thunderjet Not perfect but pulled me out of a hole. The a
  17. Hello! I’ve always liked Aggressor’s scheme for the Eagles, so as soon I got a F-15C kit, I went after the right decal set for this scale. They’re from Two Bobs and everything else is OOB. I scratch built the ACMI pod from a AIM-9, so this bird is in the normal configuration for ACM training, with the pod and a captive AIM-9. Kit was ok, except for the rear compartment lid that had to be well sanded so the canopy could fit closed, even tough is not perfect. Hope you enjoy! Cheers
  18. I bought this sheet second hand a while back only to discover it came without instructions. Scan, hi-res photo or even a photocopy will do. Thanks.
  19. Hello fellow enthusiasts, I have searched everywhere I can to locate the Caracal Decals CD48048, which is the 1:48 decal sheet for the YF-23 kit by Hobbyboss. No one has them in stock anywhere. If anyone has this sheet and wouldnt mind parting with it, I have cash on hand and would love to buy it off you. I am interested in the full sheet, but I will not hesitate to buy partials or partly used decal sheets. Anything helps! Thanks guys, JC
  20. I just finished reading a great book that was suggested on these forums, Warpath Across the Pacific, and thanks to all those brave men that served in that unit. Anyway I want to try and build an example of a b-25 from each of the squadrons. I am finding that many of the marking from these units are out of production and available at ridiculous prices. Looking for a reasonable source for markings. By the way I have already done a B-25J gun nose from the 498th, so I just need the 499,500,501. Thanks Geoff M
  21. Hi all! Back again with my latest completed project, the 1/48 Academy Su-30MK2 Flanker-G of Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Udara (Indonesian Air Force), circa 2014. This model was inspired by my wife, Cicila, who is from Indonesia. This model is now proudly displayed in our living room and she is very happy with it! Having some issues posting this post in it's entirety, so I will break it up into multiple posts...
  22. Number 7 complete for the year. This model sat, like so many of my stalled builds, partially assembled and covered in primer, probably for at least 5 years. The HobbyBoss kit is something of a throwback. I know there have been complaints about it's accuracy, which I won't comment on (as I don't care enough), but it reminds me of the classic Monogram and Hasegawa kits of the 80s. It's a big, chunky model, well detailed in some places, a bit simplistic in others. It goes together quickly and easily, but not necessarily well I chose to build mine as an in-
  23. Hellow fellow models!!! My name is Thanos, I am a mechanics student from Athens, Greece. One of my passions are airplanes. I spend the most of my day in home, due to the corona virus outbreak. So, I started scrolling in YouTube and I found lots of aircraft modeling videos. I didn’t waste any time and I bought my first kits, (2 Eduard Spitfires (1/72) and a Kinetic F 16 Block 52+ HAF (1/48), which are actually my favorite aircrafts), paints and an H&S Ultra 2 in 1 airbrush. I had almost no experience in scale modeling (only a Revell A320 and a Revell Leopard 2A6, almost 5 years ago)
  24. I'm considering building an early, Cold War AH-64 using Monogram's old 1/48th scale kit. But this time around I'd rather not try to clean up Monogram's doughy, sink-marked AGM-114 Hellfire missiles. After some quick investigation, I think this Eduard kit can successfully represent early AGM-114s. Although it looks like I might have to use the Monogram rack and rails. Thoughts? Warnings? Advice?
