If my armor modeling has a grand strategy, it's to build like the classic Shepard Paine scenes so many of us enjoyed seeing years ago. In my earliest diorama efforts I discovered that slathering plaster, cat litter, and model railroad turf onto a hastily cut plywood base didn't make very convincing groundwork in 1/35th scale. And in the past several years, I've focused on the confrontation between NATO and the Warsaw Pact in Europe. Germany is green in mind, body, and spirit, so I'd better learn to build trees. Here's some experiments I've done lately. In all cases, the major

Hi It’s cool to be back here with new stuff 🙂 A new thing I’d like to share. These are the 5DR “Rescue labor” mech with a mechanic, and a new model MILVUS-62 drone with an operator mini. Both on display with dioramas during the miniature paint festival in Warsaw this weekend. All of them are garage kits in 1/35 scale. The 5DR mentioned here before, is 20 cm tall and admittable it is just shaded/highlighted with no complex paint for now. Compared to it, the drone is completely painted and weathered and atypically floating on a single cable.

I am building the USS Nimitz. It's my first vessel and I would like to make a diorama for it. A friend was on her for a couple years. I found a kit, but even it's "modern" form had A-6's and EA-6B's for the flight deck. It would be nice to have ACTUAL modern aircraft on her. While I probably should have found a different kit, I went with the one I did because it was available. Has anyone found 1/800 scale modern jet aircraft and where I may find them? I have no idea how to scratch build. I would like to fill the deck with some Super Hornets! Thanks. Jim

Last year at a model competition I bought an old (very old) Tamiya Lancaster Bomber kit (1975), with the hope of building it into a diorama. I've been searching for years for a person who would have some sort of computer kit that would initiate the engine sequence in a realistic way. Anyway this year I found a source that supplies the computer and other hardware, I just had to source a soundtrack + extras to make it look cool. So what started out as a simple build has turned into a monster task, which I'm happy to say I'm still just on top of. The build is still in progress, but the progre

I am SOOOO close to done on my Kinetic EA-6B. During the build I decided I would make a diorama. I used the skunk model Nimitz deck kit and have it looking pretty sharp. I would upload pics but can't with the size constraints... that and my work is nowhere near everyone else's on here. However, I am happy with the results. I have one issue though, the launch bar is in the up position. In fact, there was never an option to put it "down". Now the aircraft is 90% built and painted. Any suggestions on how to go about lowering it? Should I take an exacto and somehow cut it as close to the main land

After a long hiatus, I decided to get back into model building. I have just started a Tankbuster Stuka (I think a G Model). Revell S5270. My painting has always been lacking but we'll see how I do. Down the road I would like to make a diorama of a crew performing maintenance on an aircraft, I was thinking a BOB (Battle of Britain) theme with a Mk I Spitfire or Hurricane or even a BF 109E. Any kits you all recommend for a cutaway to the engine? How do you do those types of cutaways? I assume after market resins of the engines and some serious custom work? Any advice on kits, resins

I wish to start a thread for a WIP for a bridge diorama. It is to be a display for a maritime museum. It does have a model boat, and some to scale cars, but the project is more of a civil based than anything else. I am hoping the ARC forum mod or admin will direct me to which sub-forum to start this WIP diorama thread.
