  3. I just had this kit delivered a few days ago so I thought I’d give a few thoughts and comments: The base aircraft kit itself appears to be quite nice; well moulded, fine details, no real issues. Flory Models did a nice review on the HB F/A-18E that would be comparable to this kit. The problem arises when you start looking at all the bits you hang on the kit, namely pods and weapons. First up: ALQ-99 pods. They “look” nice on the sprue at first glance but there are several issues here. The prominent heat sink panels on each side of the pods are only represented as smooth r
  4. Greetings Everyone, Trust you are doing well. . . My recent work of HobbyBoss 1/72 Dassault Rafale. The kit is very simple with few parts, but they have adequate detail for this scale. Weapons provided are also adequate except the kit could have included LGBs but its ok for a kit this old and with this price. The model is painted with locally available acrylic paints. As it was a commission build I got to build 2 of these . . . . 😉 Do enjoy the build . . Best Adi youtu.be/RR0Z3wv0bas · on
  5. Hello Friends, This is a Build of the HobbyBoss Sukhoi-30 MKK in 1:48 size. I build this kit into a Su-30MKI in service with the Indian Air Force. The build is OOB with required additions or modifications. The mods include : 1. Making the LERX - Leading Edge Extensions alongwith the canards. I make this using plastic card and epoxy putty. Once the putty dried I sanded the thing to shape. The panel lines were rescribed with reference to the line drawings which are available on the internet. 2. I modify the tails as the ones used by the MKI are diff
  6. I bought the Collect-Aire resin YF-23 when it came out, I think in 2002. Big price, big box and some big hunks of resin, it was awesome. Although well designed and molded it did require extra skills and I was fairly new to resin, I think at that point I had made a handful of resin kits including Collect-Aire's MiG-19, which was fairly straightforward. For those who never built any kits by this company the detail and quality differed substantially. Their YF-23 was good however, good cockpit, decent shape, metal gear, rubbish missiles and wheels and a good attempt on the decal sheet (it had dec
  7. This is my 1/48 Hobbyboss F-14D. It straight OOB with Fightertown decals. My goal was to make it look super weathered. This particular plane wasn't quite this filthy but I'm happy with how it turned out.
  8. Hello all No sooner had I finished my BF 110 at 1/72 when I launched a new kit, which I thought was simple but which may not be so, the FM-2 Wildcat from hobby boss. The kit is simple and the number of parts is small, but we still have a nice engine and the possibility of mounting its cradle. The landing gear seems complex to assemble and very fragile. I started to assemble the cockpit, the seat was full of burrs, and the assemblies of the side consoles, in two parts, did not facilitate the assembly work. Some pictures of the kit: [/quote]
  9. Hello Everyone, This is the Hawk MK132 used by the SuryaKiran Aerobatic Team of the Indian Air Force. I have used he HobbyBoss Hawk Mk127 as a base kit and did little modifications to complete this as the Mk132 version. The kit is good with not much fit issues but it is inaccurate in some places. 1. the Nose tip is sharp and has to smoothend out for the correct shape 2. The wings are from a Hawk Mk 1 i think as they have 4 wing fences moulded in ... . HobbyBoss trying to make use of the single mould for all the versions. 3. The The exhaus

  11. Hello fellow enthusiasts, I have searched everywhere I can to locate the Caracal Decals CD48048, which is the 1:48 decal sheet for the YF-23 kit by Hobbyboss. No one has them in stock anywhere. If anyone has this sheet and wouldnt mind parting with it, I have cash on hand and would love to buy it off you. I am interested in the full sheet, but I will not hesitate to buy partials or partly used decal sheets. Anything helps! Thanks guys, JC
  12. Hello everyone, I have searched everywhere I can possibly search on the internet to try and locate the Caracal Models YF-23 Prototype decals in 1:48 scale. Is there anyone out there that may have one of these lying around? Partial or full I will buy it. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help. JC
  13. Number 7 complete for the year. This model sat, like so many of my stalled builds, partially assembled and covered in primer, probably for at least 5 years. The HobbyBoss kit is something of a throwback. I know there have been complaints about it's accuracy, which I won't comment on (as I don't care enough), but it reminds me of the classic Monogram and Hasegawa kits of the 80s. It's a big, chunky model, well detailed in some places, a bit simplistic in others. It goes together quickly and easily, but not necessarily well I chose to build mine as an in-

  15. 1/48 Short Tucano converted from hobbyboss EMB-312. The following parts are modified: 1\ the original three blade is converted into a four blade propeller 2\ jet pipes are moved to lower front fuselage 3\ the nose section is slightly modified to represent a smoother cross section on the Short Tucano rather than Embraer Tucano 4\ Added a frame and detonation cord to the original canopy 5\ Added the ventral airbrake, leaving it at closed position

  17. This Hawk comes from Chinese domestic factory Trumpeter. The model was bulit almost straight out of box, except for modifications on wings. I removed the small wing fences that were intended for model Hawk 51, Hawk 60, Hawk 65 and Hawk 67, and added stall strips on the leading edge of wings. The model was painted with white and yellow primers, then painted with Super Italian Red. All paints used were from Gunze. Decals are thin and soft. Several layers of Gunze GX100 clear coats were applied before polishing and applying decals. A few layers of Gunze GX100 clear coats were applied over t

  19. Hi all! Here is my recently finished model - the infamous F-23A Black Widow II, as she could have look like if entering into serial production. 🙂 The weathering also features quite a significant amount of "what if", but for the conversion i used all the unclassified pics and diagrams on the www.yf-23.net website. I tried to make this kit as correct as possible while sticking to the mentioned dimensions, angles, etc. - all the changes from the prototype version YF-23. As a base kit - it is the HobbyBoss's 1/48 kit and here is the WIP topic. (PS: the pics on the first pages are invisible... don'
  20. I'm not really keen on assembling individual cylinders to a crankcase, so I'm wondering if anyone has tried to fit the Quickboost FM-2 engine into the Vector cowl? I was able to get the engine done properly on my Czech Models Fireball, hence my hesitation... I will if I have to, but if I can get away with not doing it…
  21. Hi The moment has arrived, I already wanted to be able to show you these two models. Akula-class submarines and Oscar II Kursk class. Both are models of the house HobbyBoss scale 1/350, have been placed on a base simulating the water and which in turn are the basis for your urn. Both have been a benchmark for the Russian navy and deserve a place in my collection. A greeting and I hope you like it
  22. The first finished model of 2017. HobbyBoss kit in 1:72ish scale (closer to 1:60 I guess) and Begemot decals. Several changes had to be made in order to bring the kit, built to represent the first two prototypes, to the rebuilt 5th flying prototype. 24. Greetings, I built a Hasegawa Hornet several years ago and remember it being a fun build that went together with few problems. I had a Hobbyboss A model, another Hasegawa D model and the new Kinetic C model in the stash so I decided to get them all done. I had the Afterburner decals for VFA-87 War Party that I used on the 1st Hasegawa and there were plenty left over so I used them on the Hobbyboss Kit to build an A+. I am not up to date on my Hornet specifics so I relied on the Hobbyboss instructions for the build. Obviously that was a mistake. There were some antennas that got put
  25. What`s up guys? :) Here is what i got yesterday - this wonderful HobbyBoss kit in 1/48. The YF-23 is a very cool plane, but i plan to make it even cooler - for instance how it should look like as a serial F-23A Black Widow II. Of cource, i don`t plan to start it any time sooner. Yet check out this monter kit - so nice boundaries and continuities and curves and shapes... beauty beauty!
