Hi you all. A long time since I was here last time. It was in 2017 when the heavies GB was on. I didn't compleat the model then. The decals where not good. But now it's done. I got new decals from Sky models that are nice. More pictures (some the same as in the GB forum) from the build can be seen here. I'm no master at weathering, so there is hardly any weathering on the model. Just some exhaust streaks from the engines. But they faded alot after the clear coat. After I took the pictures I notesed that I had forgot to paint the nav. lights and the ends on the propelars. I have f

Last year at a model competition I bought an old (very old) Tamiya Lancaster Bomber kit (1975), with the hope of building it into a diorama. I've been searching for years for a person who would have some sort of computer kit that would initiate the engine sequence in a realistic way. So what started out as a simple build has turned into a monster task, which I'm happy to say I'm still just on top of. The build is still in progress, but the progre

I remember reading sometime back in 2001 or 2002 an article in SAMI by Randy Lutz in which he details his build of a 1/48 Lancaster (Piccadilly Princess). Does anyone have a copy lying around?

This is a build for a friend, which was started at the end of October. The Crown Lancaster is a very old kit, the Minicraft Dak a bit more modern. I've built both of these kits before and the different ages of the kits show in the quality of the design, mouldings and fit. This is the Lancaster kit unboxed and partly cut from the sprues to check on sizes for another part of the project. Here's the previous Lancaster build, an accessory on an N scale model railroad. The kits has its shape flaws, and particularly over long landing gear, but still b

A good friend of mine has discovered that her father and uncle both crewed the 'Ton Up' Lancaster 'Uncle Joe'. I'd really like to make her a model of this aircraft but I'm having trouble sourcing the decals. I believe they were made by Tally Ho! under the reference number 72 042. Anyone out there have a set or know where I could get them?
