Some 30 years ago I first built this kit, with just my 15 year old experience, glue, pencil and a simple Revell black spray can. She was sitting for some time behind the other newer models, on which I was able to practice airbrushing. I felt it was time to put the slender black beauty back into the spotlights, with a renewed tight black dress, new tattoos and some details that had to be on. She has become the stunner of my collection again! With pride I present to you the reconstructed Italeri 1/48 SR-71 Blackbird, in the Night Hawk livery, with Afterburner decals

Well hello! 🍓 Let's build that beast! This is my second model in this scale and after the B-2 in 1/72 - everything in it looks ginormous. 🙂 I somehow found out after the B-2 that the bomber planes have a slightly different structure and shape from the jetfighters, and i liked it too.... in a different way, but still i like it a lot and that's how i decided to build the Nighthawk. This F-117 kit is giant. It has metal landing gear, PE intake screens, rubber tyres and canopy with thin flat sides - almost like windows with no blurs or distortion whatsoever, while the decals are only a few:

For me this was the longest time between starting and finishing a project. I started these in the late 1990's and just finished up the last one this week. Except for the gray markings on one, all the markings are custom dry transfers since the Alps didn't exist when these were built. They're small, but they make for a unique display when gathered together.
