Hi guys, What type of rounds were used in the .50 ammo belts of P-51D’s? I know every 5th or 7th round was tracer but what about the rest? Were there differences in the ETO/MTO between escort / air superiority missions and dedicated air-to-ground missions? Were there differences in types of ammo use between Europe and the Pacific? Thanks! Erik.

So was out of town most of last month hence while I have not posted any of these videos. Back to looking at 32nd scale aircraft kits again this week with a look at Hasegawa's older boxing of their P-51D Mustang kit.

I am planning to build a P-51D modeled after Stephen C Ananian's from the 505FS, 339FG, 8AF USAAF. His plane was named Baby Mine. I can't find any decals for that aircraft. Obviously there were thousands of P-51s built so I didn't expect to find any decals for it. Any suggestions on what to do? Is there a way to make them myself? I suppose it's better to just switch to a plane for which there are decals. Just curious if there are ways around this. Thanks!

As the title suggests, I am wondering what is "best value" readily available kit to depict 1/48 ANG F-51D? By "best value," I mean the cheapest kit (<$15-$20) with the most correct features or easily corrected features without resorting to aftermarket doo-dads. I am not a P-51 aficianado, and don't have any P-51 books, just Francillon's Aerograph 2, which has mostly small photos. As a baseline, I think I need the Aeroproducts un-cuffed prop and possibly a Dallas hood, but am unsure of the exhaust stacks or other details that may vary from kit to kit. I currently ha

I decided to take on this 1/48 scale P-51D to basically use it as a test subject for his bigger brother build in the 1/32 scale Tamiya P-51D. You can check out that build thread here. I wanted to try out a couple new techniques and I figure why not test it out on a $30 kit rather than a $100 kit. Now, this isn’t an exciting first post to start an In-Progress thread, but here we go. I started out with the wings and bringing them up to snuff with the laminar airfoil technology. Many P-51 experts have probably seen this diagram by J.R. Heilig that shows the panel line
