Hello, this is a post about a model I've build in 2014. I have chosen to build a black twin mustang from Special Hobby. I have used the photoetched kit from MPM (K72016) and decals from Print Scale (72-067). The spinner from Special Hobby was not correct to me (same propeller on both side when they should be in opposite configuration) so I have chosen to use Monogram/Revell pieces instead (with a small diameter correction to fit properly). As I didn't like the tires either (too squared), I have used F6F wheel and tire from an Eduard kit. The ma

Hello friends, this is my latest built. The IMAM Ro.37 A.30 was a two-seater Italian reconnaissance , a product of the Industrie Meccaniche Aeronautiche Meridionali (IMAM) company. Powered by the FIAT A.30 RA, a 600-hp, liquid-cooled V-12, the Ro 37 could reach a top speed of 199 mph (332 kph) at 13,120 ft (4037 m), could land at 67 mph (112 kph), and had a service ceiling of 21,976 ft (6762 m). The kit is the Special Hobby Ro.37 1/48 and is finished in a medium quality, grey soft plastic with recessed panel lines; the level of detail is modest. The kit contains a set of photo e

Hi Here are my last builds with these two Curtiss fighters from Special Hobby. First, this is the P-40N-5 s/n 42-105233 from the 89th Fighter Squadron / 80th Fighter Group in 1944 and based in Assam, East India. She was painted with Olive Drab and Neutral Grey from the Aqueous Gunze range. Decals came from the box. I added the resin wheels from CMK 72295 and the seat from 72294. Second is the Kittyhawk Mk. Ia AK772 of the No 112 Squadron RAF in spring 1942 somewhere in Libya. The paint came from Gunze for the Dark Earth and Middle Stone and

Hi all! I am back after a bit of a break with my latest completed model, the 1/48 Special Hobby AJ 37 Viggen from 7 sqd of the Swedish Air Force. The kit is actually very nice to build, and has some really nice detail. There are a few errors in the kit, all of which are well known here and other sites. I myself was not too concerned with these issues, as they did not bother me, and by doing an in-flight build was able to avoid two of the bigger issues (canard flaps droop on the ground and way too thin wheels and tires). That also did not keep me from making some mist

Hi Here is my new finished kit with this reconnaissance fighter Dassault Mirage F1 CR from Special Hobby. This one is N°603 #33-NR of Escadron de Reconnaissance ER02.033 in 1988 in Chad. The shark mouth was added before going back to Reims AB, France. The vanilla/chocolate camouflage is typical of the Chad operations during the 1980s. She was loaded with two 1200 L fuel tanks, two Magic air-to-air missiles, a Phimat chaff dispenser under the starboard wing and a Barracuda ECM pod under the port wing. Patrick

In the middle of last year, despite only limited flying experience, I got to fly and land a Ryan PT-22 based a few hours from me. This was my first landing flying anything, never mind a WW2 taildragger!! I'd love to build a model of the aircraft I flew, but don't want to spend a fortune, so figured the 1/72 scale Special Hobby version would be ideal, only to find out it seems to be out of production I'm in the United Kingdom, so ideally, looking for one available in the UK, as shipping from abroad could be a bit steep. Does anyone have a kit they are happy to part with?
