After finishing the Voodoo, which was the last of the 3 projects for my brother, it’s time to work on my Blackbird. I believe this impressive black stunner was my first attempt to do airbrushing, with just a simple spray can and no real airbrush, probably some 30 years ago. Over time, decals have become dry and brittle, as they were not sealed at the time (didn’t have the knowledge I have now). She was sitting for some time behind the other newer models, on which I was able to practice airbrushing. Revell 1/48 SR-71A. Kit number 04967. Length of completed model over 68 cms (over two

The aircraft has also been referred to as the Bododian (or Bodonian depending on reference) Express as it limped into Norway after an engine out condition in 1983. It is one of two Blackbirds displayed in this unique fashion on stilts in a sun-lit atrium. The engines and landing gear are removed and one engine is on display in another part of the museum with the one of the main ge
