  1. Hello all This build started in 2005, back then I thought it was a good idea to include pictures of the sprues as a way to publish an in-progress report in a “formal” manner as I saw done with other modelers, so here they are along with an Aires’ cockpit set. While searching for references, I noted that some characteristics of the Corsair were, to my taste, oversimplified in the kit, like the exhaust tubes, tail landing gear and it's bay, radiator intakes, brewster bomb rack and to some extent
  2. The Tiger I was constructed first and was thematically a straight follower of my previous tank, HB T-34 in 1/48. This was clearly a Tamiya kit and went together easily (as opposed to the HB kit) and had crisp details and flash free parts. It comes with a metallic chassis which, according to some modelers, simplifies parts of the suspension details. Could be, but most of it will be hidden behind the typical German multi-wheel chassis assembly anyway. I wanted a machine used on the Eastern front and I wanted it in Tank Gray. TS-4 was used as a base paint and weathering was done with oils, enamel
  3. Hi Phantom Phreaks, two new items have just been released on my website, both for the Tamiya F-4B (and possible future release Phantoms). 1: A centreline pylon. It fits onto the kit's mounting tab with an easy modification. https://www.hypersonicmodels.com/product/f-4-phantom-centreline-pylon-tamiya- 2: Early type McAir 370gal wing tanks with pylons for the Tamiya kit. These tanks were initially used on all F-4B (and F-4C) before the advent of the Sgt. Fletcher tanks. They remained in use into the early 70s. https://www.hypersonicmodels.com/pr
  4. This Autumn Tamiya is to release an updated variant from its 1/48th Tomcat kit - ref. 61122 - Grumman F-14A Tomcat late variant Source: https://tieba.baidu.com/p/7412046019 V.P.
  5. Hi, Here's my Tamiya F-14A with the Steel Beach set to backdate it to a pre-production F-14 and Caracal decal set CD48-168. I love every subject on the sheet, but I'm going to go with BuNo 157988 with the PMTC markings. On the instructions, she is shown in the NMC markings, but everything needed to build her with the PMTC markings is on the sheet. I'm forever grateful to Kursad (Caracal decals) and Darren (Steel Beach) for making this possible. One thing I did to this one before the decals even existed was to eliminate the hexagonal stiff
  6. Hi, There are some really awesome threads in this GB. I hope you Tomcat experts can help me out a bit. I'm going to convert a Tamiya F-14D into an F-14A+ (F-14B). I'll make a list of what I think is neccesary. Please let me know if I overlook anything. I don't have the conversion sets that were made by Steel Beach or Phase Hangar Resin, but I think it can be done without them. *A coaming for the front Instrument panel. Replace Tamiya parts N3, N4, N9, L6 and L7, with a coaming for an A or B model. I'm pretty sure I'll find a spare part in the stash.
  7. Thanks to all the folks who have helped me shrink the stash. Here is a sample of some of the kits I have yet to sell. For a complete list of kits, just pm your email and I will send a complete list. Make me an offer I am very motivated to shrink the stash. Please include your zip code so I can estimate the shipping. 3 or more kits = free shipping AMT/ERTL P-40F #8795 P-40K #8794 P-40N #8798 HobbyCraft P-40C #HC1451 Sea Fury #HC1583 w/ Cooper Detail set for Sea Fury #CD4802 Sea Fury #HC1531 w/ Cooper Detail set for S
  8. Hello Everyone Adi here . . . I wanted to make a Snowy Base for the Finnish AF Hawker Hurricane which I just completed. To make the base I use Plywood and cover this with acrylic putty. I use baking powder to sprinkle the base for the Snow Effect. I make trees using wooden kitchen skewers and single strand wire. For the branches I used dried grass as I did not have access to Woodland Scenics Sea Foam. I make my own flocking using a sponge and I churn it in the mixer. I make two different shades of green. I spray the trees with diluted PVA Glue and sprinkl
  9. Hi there! Just finished this nice Tamiya kit. Everything OOB and the only real flaw was one of the decals sheet, the smaller one, most stencils. Without exception, all of them cracked as soon as I tried to move them. I used warm water, cold water, decal solution, you name it, with no success. In some cases I was able to join the pieces and have them in place. But, as I said, a very nice kit. Hope you’ll like it. Cheers!
  10. I’ll be building my next Tamiya cat as one of the first in the fleet - VF-1 Wolfpack’s second 101 bird, which has been modeled a lot. Research is one of the things that really appeals to me in modeling, and this project has given me a lot to learn! For instance: the first VF-1 plane to be painted as NK-101 was this one, BuNo 158627. I believe it was a Block 65 machine. Note the radome without a tan front section, long gun muzzle trough (short cover), the black skunk stripe over the canopy and spine, completely white nose gear doors, pin striping around the NACA intake on the ventr
  11. Going to be taking a break from the type of kits we have been reviewing lately and be going back to aircraft kits again this week with Tamiya's 1/100th scale Embraer 175 kit.
  12. Haven't done much modelling the last few years, and I've been looking through a lot of builds lately, of the Tomcats that have come out in the past few years (while I wasn't building any!)---I don't think any has been praised as "clearly the best one ever"----that said, I'm wondering what one "has the best odds of looking good when built". A master modeler can deal with any issue in any kit---that's not me! I'm looking for one where I won't have to spend 100 hours trying to get parts to fit. I would basically want to "slap it together out of the box, and be proud of it". Skills are rusty,

  16. Good day folks, My second post after a long long time in lurk mode. Kit is a Tamiya 1/48 f-16cj. Constructing the basic block 50 of one of the birds in Misawa. Has been done by people before me by the hundreds, but here is another. This first post of the WIP is some pics I documented up until now. The aircraft is waiting for further progress (ie. When the wifey takes a few days to do lady things with her friends). Off topic: she doesnt know I have an airbrush and compressor. Its hidden inside the bed on the side without the drawers. If shes here, no big paintwork.
