  2. Hello friends Here I show you the Chinook helicopter version CH-47A. I had to scratch a support to place the folded blades for not having enough space. The models are from the Trumpeter brand at 1/35 scale, which in my opinion comes very well detailed. If a partner wants details about the support of the blades he writes me. Greetings and I hope you like it https://youtu.be/cORriK4ePvk

  8. I have now got both of the existing 1/72 scale kits - the new one from Trumpeter (2017 release) - and the old one from Italeri (released in 1995) - so I thought I'd do a comparison.... these are just my personal opinions BTW..... The Trumpeter kit is typical from them - excellent packaging, crisp moulding and loads of weaponry and very expensive - but also some shape errors. It also represents the latest configuration - whereas the Italeri kit is of a Su-34 from about 20 years ago... Trumpeters excellent box art....... .... and superb packaging. But the nose is way off !!! .... compared to the real thing Italeri got it much better - all those years ago..... Italeri upper fuselage mated to Trumpeter lower.... Italeri lower fuselage mated to Trumpeter upper. Note the strakes on the Trumpeter kit (an addition since Italeri kitted their version). Trumpeter moulded the fuselage and wings as one part...... (but got the wingspan wrong - they measured the span WITHOUT the wingtip launch rails - so it works out at 208mm instead of the correct 204mm - Italeri is nearer at 205mm) Note also the sharp edge to the curved engine nacelles..... Italeri's nacelles are blended in better - much more subtle. Italer got their fins wrong - the early Su-34 prototypes had a taller fin taken from the Su-27UB - it was later replaced with a shorter fin taken from a single-seat Su-27. Trumpeter's fin (on the left) is better. Trumpeter provide the latest tailboom - with a built-in APU - but it is a half-hearted attempt - you have to cut out a recess and fit the intake grille into it. And.... they don't provide the APU exhaust flaps at the top rear of the tailboom.... Trumpeter (top) and Italeri tailbooms - Italeri is too long. More later Ken
  9. hello guys my girlfriend just bought me the 2 seater first I will build the single seater again but this time it will be fully optioned I have the full zacto kit "nose canopy and air intakes" and aires set : cockpit weel bay and exhaust and eduards photoetched parts My question is : Do I need correct air intakes and nose from zactomodels for the ub version are they the same for the 2 seater ?
  10. Hello ARC, Here's my latest... Trumpeter's 1/72 Su-30MKK with Naza Model Art's conversion kit and Begemot decals to make an Indian Air Force Su-30MKI. I painted the model with Mr. Color lacquers, which I mixed to match some photos I have from a recent exercise in the US. I am by no means a Flanker expert or know anything about the IAF, however It seems the more recent visits of these jets to the US and UK sport this darker shade of gray. It also seem that they have recently adopted the red/white Western-style ejection seat warning triangles underneath the canopy rail. So I just had to include them on my model... kind of an odd East meets West thing. The weapons came from multiple sources; the KAB-500L LGBs are from Advanced Modeling, the EL/L-8222 ECM pod is from Wolfpack, the Litening targeting pod is from Eduard, and the missiles are stolen from the Zvezda Su-33 (hint to what's next...). The stand was built from a block of oak and an aluminum bar I found in my garage. I posed the model as if it were just competing a rejoin on a tanker... IFR probe extended, throttles back (nozzles open), and the speed brake partially extended to stop the last bit of closure as the pilot matches airspeed with the tanker. Pre-contact, stable, ready... Hope you like model! Todd
  11. Hey guys, quite a while back my friend wanted me to build him a monstrous KV-2. But instead of a typical Russian green, he wanted something unusual. A what if "German captured it, and repainted to their needs" The kit was quite a pleasure to work with, and after a few weeks, the beast was done.
  12. This week we are back looking at another prop kit again, with Trumpeter's Mig-3 Late kit in 1:48th scale.
  13. Cheers folks, I'd like to show you a few photos of my 1/32nd scale EA-6B Prowler, a scratchbuilt conversion based on Trumpeter's A-6A kit. This conversion required the whole bunch of techniques I have access to - CNC milling, laser cutting, 3D printing and classic scratchbuilding. The decal artwork was drawn by me and then silk printed in Czech Republic. I am currently working on a carrier deck diorama , USS Kitty Hawk's port stern section to be precise; this is the area at least one Prowler was typically parked. The Birdcage was fully scratchbuilt as it has nothing in common with its counterpart on the Intruder. The deck personnel is from Reedoak, the pilots were built using parts from several 'classic' resin figures. When will we finally get some up-to-date Naval aviators in 32nd scale?! Here's an early stage of the carrier deck section with the Prowler on top. If you are interested in seeing how the Prowler was built and if you want to see how the deck is being built, feel free to check out my Facebook page "Scale Navy Stuff"; you can find the link in my signature. If you have any critique, comments, remarks or questions, please don't hesitate to ask! As soon as the deck is finished, I'll take some better photos and post them here! Cheers Ben
  14. Hello, My name is David, I´m from Germany and I have been an aviation enthusiast for many years now, but this is my first post on ARC. As I am very interested in small air forces in general and in the middle east particularly, I have read a good deal of books about the Iran-Iraq-War. A few days ago, i opened the book "Iraqi Fighters" searching for inspiration for my next project, and I found a nice sideview of MiG 23BN #1428, No.29 squadron, Iraqi Air Force, as used in the very first attack on Iranian targets on the afternoon of 22 september 1980. The plane was armed with FAB-250ShN parachute-retarded bombs (M46 I think ?). I now have three questions: 1. Is the FAB-250ShN in any way different from the "normal" FAB-250 M46 ? Or can I use an ordinary one for my model, because I don´t know any firm which produces FAB-250ShN bombs in 1/48 scale. 2.Is there any information wether the bombs used were M46 or M54 ones, apart from the picture in the book which shows M46 (but the text says the primary bomb type was the FAB-250 M54) ? 3. Near the wing root of the MiG 23BN there is a small, oval "thing" which looks like a guidance pod of some sort. Was this "thing" ever built in on Iraqi MiG 23s and if so was it built in on both wings or just one of them ? Thank you for reading, Best regards David
  15. Hi everyone! I have this little shelf queen that for no apparent reason became one at the beginning of the year. I wanted to build Su-30M2, but upon just closing the fuselage halves, seeing all the Trump's mistakes, I lost all the mojo. I am resurrecting her now for this GB. In the past few days, I've attached the intakes, the nose, started puttying, sanding and rescribing lost details. The work I hate the most. Oh and I've started working on cockpit. And this little man, which will look much better after he'll receive some flat coating. The figure comes from a Zvezda kit but is quite big for the Trumpeter's K-36 seat. So his legs had to be amputated and the bottom of the ejection seat removed, so the height of the pilot will be correct in the cockpit.
  16. Lovely kit, good fit with minimal need for putty.
  17. Hi everyone! Just finished this Su-30M2 for 'Build a Bear' Group build here at ARC. Click on the below link to access full article and photo gallery: https://vvsmodelling.com/2016/11/13/su-30m2-flanker-g-4th-prototype/
  18. This was my entry to the Strike/Attack AC GB here on ARC. It was a nice kit with PE included. One thing i added was the antenna on the dorsal, everything else is OOB, there are more weapons going for the spares bin too. Air intakes were a bit problematic but Trumpy provided the fod covers so no fuss. Size of the jet was interesting tho, similar to a ww2 Zero probably, anyway enjoy the pix.
  19. Hello all, this will be my entry to the GB. initially i was thinking of doing a 1/72 HB Bombcat but lately this A-37b came as a commission build, i thought it'd be a subject better suited for this GB Began the kit yesterday: After a day this is where i am at, fuselage is closed and mated with the wings: Fit wise OK, there are issues in the usual places like the inlets but nothing extraordinary so far. Cockpit will receive seatbelts, IP and it's coaming, than an oil wash to pop the details a bit more. Aircraft will be South VNam AirForce in the usual SEA camo, after a brief search the loadout is probably going to be: 2x underwing tanks 2x mk82 slicks 1x gunpod 1x rocket pod.
  20. It seems as though I cannot locate Trumpy's 1/48 Fencer at any vendor online. If someone sees one for sale our has one to part with please contact me. I may have other kits/update sets to use for trade as well. Thanks
