  1. Dear all, together with my Slick Huey build, I'm working on a Dust Off / MedEvac Huey. It will be a UH-1H with markings of the 237th MD, "Curious Yellow". As there are almost no pictures of MedEvac Hueys available I would like to ask what equipment was carried in addition to the rescue hoist and stretchers? Any information would be highly appreciated! Many thanks in advance and best regards Sven
  2. Hi there! This is my recent project. There are few choices if you want an 1/48 F-105(D/G) so I went with HobbyBoss for this. I can’t say I didn’t know about its flaws. I’ll list them here, so perhaps I can give my contribution to those who, like me, love the ‘105 and want to build one. As written in almost every review, the kit is really overengineered in several areas. For instance, the engine, the 20mm gun, the spoilers have way too many parts, that can lead to poor alignment, if you don’t pay attention. The fitting, in general, is just regular, with its fair share of flash a
  3. Hello! This is my VNAF Spad, a very nice kit from Tamiya. Used some Eduard PE and decals from AOA, since the originals were too old. Cammo was free hand painted (Gunze) and I scratch built a few details, like the wiring to the ejection seat system and those static dischargers. Hope you enjoy! Cheers! ps: by the way, the chart over the panel is a very reduced WAC 1:1000.000 of South Vietnam. George
  4. Dear all, I always wanted to build a Vietnam ear RC-135M So it is no surprise that I have the AMT RC-135 kit in my stash. Unfortunately the Vietnam specific “M” version has some fairings at the rear sides. After a lot of time I found some on Shapeways and ordered them. In my eyes thze shape matches the picture available and the fit is probably much better than some of the kit parts. Here you can find two picture of a test fit: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w2luxs7s477jmh3/IMG_0610_s.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/nkavvo821ejuial/IMG_0612_s.jpg?dl=0
  5. Hello! This is another one I built. The F-4B Phantom from Hasegawa in 1:72 scale. I used the zoom photo etched set from Eduard for the cockpit plus some scratch building for the side consoles and the back of the front seat. The ejection seats are from Quickboost and are those for The F-8 Crusader. I think early Phantoms had these seats instead the Martin Baker MK-7 they had later. The exhausts are resin items from Aires. The decals are from PrintScale which are very delicate and need fast and determined application because they can fold easily. I used the decals for the VF-21 “Freelancers” 102
  6. Hello. My second submission in the forum is the AH-1G Cobra from Special Hobby. It’s a good scale model with the recessed panel lines bit on the heavy side and with a lot of armament. In the box there are items that allow to build other versions too. I had the Marine version but I wanted to do the Army one so I used the decals for the specific chopper from the AZ model. “Sound of Silence” was the Cobra that CW2 Jim Moran and WO1 Neil MacMilan used in one of the longest missions of war, maintaining the extraction at night and in bad weather of an LRRP team that was surrounded by a large NV
  7. Hello fellow modellers and happy new year! I am a new member in ARC and this is my first submission. It is the F-104C from Italeri in 1:72 scale which must be the old Esci kit. Despite its age it has delicate recessed panel lines and a Hasegawa-like feeling. It’s made out of the box with the only modification the replacing of the generic ejection seat with a resin one from Aires. The rocket launchers are from the Heuy kit from Hobbyboss. I also changed the wing tanks with the ones from the Hasegawa kit because the Italeri ones look very slim. The colours are from the Gunze Mr Hobby range
  8. This is my Dragonfly as used in Vietnam in the '60's. It's a special kit for me because I graduated in the Air Force Academy in his older and less powerful brother, the T-37C. Nice little bird though. I wish they had a kit for it, for conversion from this one should be very demanding. I've used PE parts and the painting was free hand, since masking was very tricky for this scheme. Hope you enjoy! Cheers! George ps: the chart over the panel is a 1:250.000 of South Vietnam, of course.....
  9. Hello friends, this aircraft was flown by 921st Fighter Regiment „Sao Do“ (Red Star) in 1968. The first examples of MiG-21PFM were delivered to this unit during this year. Some sources say that this particular MiG was flown by Nguyen Van Coc, a fighter ace credited with 9 kills. The b&w photos of this aircraft can be interpreted in various ways. One of the theories says that green splotches were sprayed on the upper sides. The splotches were not sharp-edged and the surrounding area was also covered by the thin layer of the green color. This gave this area light-green appearance.
  10. Hello ! A second vietnam war era helicopter pilot is now done : helmet in hand and also a pair of chicken plates, already done in 1/48 and 1/32, but that will have his first print today in 1/35) Cheers Norbert
