Now that my resurrection of the SR-71 Blackbird is proudly showing herself, it’s time to build the only plane that was able to lock-on the Blackbird: the Saab Viggen. The Viggen always was a special plane to me, showing a complete different design compared to US, Russian and European fighters. Next to the stunning splintered camo scheme! I will however build the air defense variant JA-37, simply because I like it in a way with its neat two-tone coloured scheme, with colourful squadron details. The Italeri kit comes with its reviews and flaws, as the sprues a

These are the pictures of my finished SK-37 Viggen, from the Special Hobby kit. Several modification were made, especially in the rear cockpit and on the landing gears. I have used the CMK resin set for the cockpits and the Reskit jet exhaust. I have used masks from Special Masks to paint the camo scheme I was a nice pleasure to build this kit. The build is presented here.

Hello, I am starting a new project: a SK-37, using the Special Hobby 1/72 kit, with some goodies 😉 The first step of work is the rear place cockpit. Indeed, the co-pilot control panel is not very well represented by Special Hobby nor CMK and some work has to be done. I started by replacing the periscope tubes with cooper tubes. The top of the control panel is made with 0.13 mm Evergreen sheet. It is soft enough to be able to bend correctly (pink arrows). The styren block on the back of the control panel will help the positionning (black arrow)

Since the participants got 20% off in the museum shop and they had the new Tarangus/Special Hobby JA 37 Viggen in 1/72 scale I could not resist. Although I have several of the 1/48 scale offerings, I had to check this one out too, being a life long Viggen fan. (the Heller Viggen was my first model kit, in 1982). I am sure most of you have a little knowledge about the Viggen. This is the fighter/interceptor version of the Viggen. It was armed with a 3

Hi all! I am back after a bit of a break with my latest completed model, the 1/48 Special Hobby AJ 37 Viggen from 7 sqd of the Swedish Air Force. The kit is actually very nice to build, and has some really nice detail. There are a few errors in the kit, all of which are well known here and other sites. I myself was not too concerned with these issues, as they did not bother me, and by doing an in-flight build was able to avoid two of the bigger issues (canard flaps droop on the ground and way too thin wheels and tires). That also did not keep me from making some mist
