Hi all, I am starting a new build - Tamiya 1/48 F-14D Tomcat VF-213 Black Lions, AJ213 / 164602. CVW-8, USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 - Last Cruise, 2006. What I am planning to use for this build: Tamiya 1/48 Grumman F-14D Tomcat Eduard Brassin 1/48 F-14D Cockpit Eduard Brassin 1/48 F-14D Wheels Eduard Brassin 1/48 AN/AAQ-13 LANTIRN pod Eduard Brassin 1/48 AIM-9M/L Sidewinder Eduard Brassin 1/48 GBU-12 Eduard Brassin 1/48 GBU-38 Thermally Protected Kasl 1/48 F-14D Exhausts Master 1/48 F-14 Pitot & AOA SAC 1/48 Grumman F-14 Tomcat Landing Gear Fightertown Decals Grumman Tomcat F-14A/F-14B/F-14D Data and Weapons Before I start posting more progress I have few questions regarding this specific aircraft: 1. I would be interested if this F-14 color scheme was used on the whole last cruise in 2005? 2. What weapons would they use on this aircraft during this cruise? I was planning to equip this with 2x AIM-9L, 1xLANTIRN, 1xAIM-54C, 2x GBU-16 + ROVER system antenna on the right front pylon (saw a photo of this somewhere). Would this be a realistic loadout during this deployment? 3. Was this aircraft in any type of fight or deploying bombs during the last cruise? Or was it purely reconnaissance missions? Any information about this particular aircraft and this last cruise would be highly appreciated! Also any great photographs of this plane would be very useful. The cockpit and seats seem to be mostly done. Small mistakes here and there, but I guess I can live with that. I have to say I was quite impressed with the amount of detail the Eduard cockpit set has in this scale. Compared it to my previously done 1/32 F-14D cockpit, it is not that far off! Also the Fightertown Data & Weapons decals set provides lots of useful and detailed decals for the cockpit. Thanks for watching. Tomas
Good Evening, HLJ still has parts 2 and 3 available, but part one is sold out. Is there anybody out there that purchased the first set, but decided to skip the other two? Cheers and thanks for looking! Hoops
