  1. Greetings, I recently made this lovely 72nd scale Eduard Mig-21. It is a great kit, practically no filler needed, went together like a dream. I purchased a lot of aftermarket for it as well - resin exhaust (Armycast) and engine (Eduard), resin pylons and UB-16 rocket pods, exterior and interior PE (all of these Eduard), metal pitot tube (Master), and Slovak Air Force specific decals (Airdesign). This particular jet was manufactured in Moscow and first served in the Czechoslovak Air Force, and later in the Slovak Air Force until 2001 (maybe 2002?), when it was retired and placed
  2. Hello, I had a hard time deciding which livery I wanted for my Eduard 72nd scale Mig-21 MF. Then I decided for a russian aircraft with one of those complicated camos with several coulors. I found an interesting aircraft in white 17. It is a 5 + 1 colour camoed aircraft (+1 being the emerald green patches which might be repair works or touch ups…) This actually is a Mig-21 SM (SM being basically being the domestic version and MF beig the export version). White 17 belongs to the 1st Squadron ou the Fighter-Bomber 18th Regiment – 303rd Composite Air Division base
  3. Hi, all! I hope everyone is healthy and can enjoy our wonderful hobby. I am building a Bulgarian MiG-21MF-75, specifically white 177 included in the Eduard 1/72 box and Linden Hill Imports ‘Brothers in Arms 3’ decal sheet. My question is very simple: does that plane (white 177) have visible stencils? I checked many photos of Bulgarian MiG-21 MF and Bis. Some of them have black stencils, much less stencils than Soviet and Warsaw Pact aircraft. On other planes I don't see any stencil. I only have a picture of white 177 (attached). It seems that it
  4. Hello Everyone, The MIG-21 Bison (MIG-21-93) is primarily used by the India Air Force and is an upgraded version of the Later Mig-21s. The aircraft has a new radar and integration of modern avionics and weapons. The donor kit is a Trumpeter MIG-21 MF and is converted into a -93/Bison with various changes and scratchbuilt parts. A new Vac Form cockpit was made at home using a clear sheet. The overwing avionics bays were casted in resin from scratchbuilt masters. The spine is also corrected as the Trumpeter spine is too flat on the top side curve. this was a
  5. This is my first plane in this forum. Made with Eduard MIG-21R kit and ModelMaker decal.
  6. I have just received the brand new Eduard MiG-21MF in 1:72. Here's a link to my in-box review for those interested: https://vvsmodelling.com/2018/04/09/eduard-172-mig-21mf-library-edition/ I'll probably also start with the build along with the Mirage 4000.
  7. Quickboost has just released "Early" (32-217 & 48-873) and "Late" (32-218 & 48-874) versions of the MiG-21's Radar Altitude Sensor. Does anyone know which variants go with which MiG versions or (more likely) when were the late ones introduced?
  8. Hello friends, this aircraft was flown by 921st Fighter Regiment „Sao Do“ (Red Star) in 1968. The first examples of MiG-21PFM were delivered to this unit during this year. Some sources say that this particular MiG was flown by Nguyen Van Coc, a fighter ace credited with 9 kills. The b&w photos of this aircraft can be interpreted in various ways. One of the theories says that green splotches were sprayed on the upper sides. The splotches were not sharp-edged and the surrounding area was also covered by the thin layer of the green color. This gave this area light-green appearance.
  9. Dear all when the MiG-21F-13 from Trumpeter was released, there was a thread here about it´s accuracy issues, IIRC. Using the search reveals nothing for me. Maybe I´m using the wrong key words. Does anybody has it still linked, or created it and can post the link? Many thanks, Thomas
  10. OK let's start with this build Since the canopy will be closed, I've decided to go with the decals for cockpit. There's also an option to paint the lovely alternate plastic parts, full of tiny details which look really really good. a few pieces of the exhaust waiting to be put together... Simple trick for landing lights - use kitchen aluminum foil to cover the back of the light... ...effect will be like the real thing and better than any paint.

  12. Eduard's well known MiG-21MF built as a commission build for a friend of mine who wanted 'used but not abused' look. Loadout and markings are his wish and especially the later may not be historically correct. Full article and gallery available on my modelling blog: https://vvsmodelling.com/2017/09/13/mig-21mf-fishbed-j-2/

  14. Hey Y'all, I am looking for three 1/72 Mig-21 drop tanks (PTB-490) for my RV Mig-21MF. Let me know if you have any to spare. Thanks in advance, Dave Fassett
