  1. 1/48 F/A-18 C/D parts wanted. (seats, wheels, nozzles, target pods) ANY KIT is ok 🙂 I can also use seats from the F-14D - F-15E Have 1/48 parts and decals to trade! See pics, will trade in your favor. I have a F/A-18 Testors Kit I'm building as a D model. Just would like to update the seats/wheels/nozzles/targeting pods/jdams. Let's work something out!
  2. A quyick build to get the year started. Monogram golden oldie built quickly so I can start an F-16 for the group build that is starting. Monogram 1/48 F-15A #5801 Caracal Decals F-15 The Early Years Pics
  3. Posting another one I did very early in 2021 as one of my Covid lockdown builds. This is the 2006 Revell issue of the Monogram 1/72 X-15A-2, done up as the aircraft appeared for its last flight when Pete Knight set a speed record with it. The aircraft was covered with an ablative heat shield coating. It was pink in color, tended to come off in slivers and had an annoying habit of getting saturated with LOX, which could have "explosive" results. So the coating was covered in a flat white binder layer. The plane itself was a rebuild of X-15 ship #2, which was rebuilt following a bad crash on Mud
  4. After reading Robert Coram's book 'Boyd: The Fighter Pilot Who Changed the Art of War' I was ready to dig out my 1979 Monogram F-16 kit and make what Boyd referred to as a pure fighter. The YF-16 at that point was more like his vision, not a multirole aircraft but light, fast and maneuverable. This project got the F-18 prototype kit out too, another Monogram kit from 1980 and both in striking paint schemes (well documented as auto paint) of the time I wanted on my shelf. The F-16 kit is pretty close to the YF-16, it needs nose reshaping, cockpit/seat changes and some other little t
  5. Back around 2000-2001, I was building 1/48 scale models with my four younger children, ages 5-12. Some were successful, some not. Alot depended upon their own skill, enthusiasm, interest and patience. While my younger daughter was very musical, she loved history and listening to my stories. The family joke was that on every vacation road trip, we had to stop by at least one or two aviation museums or US battlefield enroute. She wanted a "shiny" plane, so we chose a Monogram 1/48 T-6/SNJ Texan. I picked up a set of Microscale decals #48-74 for a Marine version. She started painting details
  6. I'm considering building an early, Cold War AH-64 using Monogram's old 1/48th scale kit. But this time around I'd rather not try to clean up Monogram's doughy, sink-marked AGM-114 Hellfire missiles. After some quick investigation, I think this Eduard kit can successfully represent early AGM-114s. Although it looks like I might have to use the Monogram rack and rails. Thoughts? Warnings? Advice?
  7. Breaking from what we have been reviewing for something special. This week we will be looking at Monogram's First Lunar Landing set, recorded no less on the 50th Anniversary of the first lunar landing.
  8. Hi, I am looking for the Cletrac M2 tractor from the 1/48 (Revell) Monogram B-24 Liberator and any spare air crew figures. Or the Cletrac released by Lone Star Model (kit reference 40630) Payment by Paypal - shipping to Oregon. Best regards
  9. Recently built the Monogram 1/48 Mosquito as the B MK IV using the kit decals. The instructions say it was brown and green so that is how I painted it. Looking at pics on the web I don't see any mosquitos painted brown/green, all gray and green. Too late for me now but it has been bugging me. Was the mosquito ever brown and green. Geoff M
  10. It's been a long time since I've posted, and I've been doing more woodworking then model building. I, like everyone, have always loved the A-10. I have a stack of A-10 kits and want to start working on them. So, why not start with the oldest first? I have the Monogram with the 1995 copyright date on it. I am going to use the True Details cockpit, the Sierra Hotel decelerons, and dual rail adaptors, and a Master Models brass gun,. I have both the Shawn Hull and Sierra Hotel LASTE update sets. I'm not sure which would be better for the A-10A I want to build. I want to build the A-10A wit
  11. Taking a break from 1/32nd scale kits to take a look at a nice older kit in Monogram's 1/48th scale TBD-1 Devastator Torpedo Bomber.
  12. Does anyone happen to have an old Monogram SB2C Helldiver that they don't want? I'm doing WWII Navy aircraft using classic kits. Any boxing will work (60s, 80s, anything in between) . Even if the box, instructions, and decals are shot, it's still good. Let me know. Thanks!
  13. Right then. So after a long time of not touching any kit with a purpose of starting AND finishing it, plus watching the two awesome Monogram F-14A builds by john53 and picknpluck, I'm going to start knocking this one out. What we have here is the 'Hunt For Red October' edition of Monogram's 1/48 F-14A Tomcat. Livery will be done in VF-211 colors for a line jet that flew on the 1997 cruise to participate in Operation Southern Watch over the skies of Iraq. This aircraft in particular is provided by FCM Decals. So far for this build I have the decals, picked up the
  14. Hello, Didn't think I'd be able to join in, but here I am after all. Just happens that I needed an early F-105F for my Wild Weasel collection, and since I was fortunate enough to find a sheet of 1/72 Wolfpak decals "Sambuster & Tyke", which has marking for Leo Thorsness Medal Of Honor mission of April 1967, here we go. References for this build are the downloadable instructions for the decal sheet, as well as the Scale Models issue from March of 1985, which describes the difference in sensors, etc. for the Vietnam F-105 Wild Weasel aircraft. First a pic
  15. I have two Monogram 1/48 AV-8B’s in the stash and as I am preparing to work on one of them I was wondering if it’s possible to make the other into a GR. 5 as they look very similar. Now I know the nose radome is different (which I have no clue how to rectify), there’s one more set of pylons compared to the AV-8B, and the instrument panel is different (was thinking the Airwaves PE could help with that) thatall need to be changed. Is there anything else that I missed? Is it even possible? I don’t have the budget to drop for another Hasegawa Harrier so I thought I
  16. Looking for more info based on a conversation in the R-M GB, if the Academy nozzles fit onto the Monogram burner cans for the F-14A, would it be too far of a stretch to assume that the Aires set for Academy would fit the Monogram as well? @twong figured out how to work it using the kit parts so I'm curious if any resin parts would work too.
  17. Looking for an accurate aftermarket copy of the Stencil SEU-3/A ejection seat that was used by the USMC in the AV-8A's for my Monogram kit. I am fully aware there are several Stencel S-III-S (SJU-4) made in 1/48 and some manufacturers even advertise these as for the -A models however that is incorrect. Anyone have any ideas or should I just tinker with improving the kit seat?
  18. It's been a while since I posted anything. I have finished quite a few so I will start putting them up here. Here is the first. Monogram's B-25J Gunship version. Out of the box except for the decals which date back to the 1985 IPMS/USA national convention. The first decal (the red and white strip behind the green) started fracturing when I put it on the model so I sprayed the rest with a thin layer of lacquer to seal them up before dipping in water. It was also my first try at using acrylic paints instead of my trusty Model Master paints. Hope you like it.
  19. Getting ready to start one of these and was wondering what my options are as far what it represents. I know the b-26 went from A-G modelwise. Which one does the kit represent. The instructions don't mention anything about the version. Geoff M
  20. I am in dire need of part #9 which is the right side of the ejection seat (if you were sitting in the seat). My build has ground to a stop. If you have this or even both pieces That would be a BIG help! Be glad to buy or trade if need be. Thank you! Later, Lee
  21. Returning to aircraft subject matter this week with a look at Monograms F-4J Phantom kit in 1/72nd scale.
  22. I'm looking for one of the bomb/torpedo carts from the Accurate Miniatures TBF Avenger kits (Part #97), or one from the old Monogram WWII Navy kits...I think either the Avenger or SBD kit had them??? They look like this:
  23. Here is my entry. I'll be clearing off the bench to focus on this one. Not sure about the Lynx decals yet. But they're in my stash, and if I can't find anything else I like, I may use them. Damn, but this is a big model!
  24. Hello, As the title states,I'm looking for the instrument panel and control stick from the Monogram/Revell 1/48 A-10 Warthog. If you've used a resin cockpit for yours and still have the parts and would be willing to let them go, I'd be more than happy to pay the shipping. Thank you! Justin
  25. My entry to this GB will be Monogram's awesome Mi-24D. When I got the kit I was surprised to see it came with a Cobra Company exterior detail set, Zots markings for Latin-American hinds (Peru, Nicaragua [Sandanistas], and Cuba), and random set of Iraqi decals. I have not decided yet which of these I may go with. Originally I was going to build the Czechoslovakian bird using the box decals, but I don't have anything Latin-American in my collection, so it would be kind of cool. The bright blue and bright green Cuban looks unique, as does the Peruvian, with its large shark mouth.
