  1. Star Racers - Online Model Race For Kids has a basic model kit that is then raced online. It's a competition meant for kids that allows them to be creative with paint design and introduces them to basic physics principles via weight placement. I thought those in this forum might be interested. The site is StarRacers.com Below is from our "About Us" page: Below is an illustration of how it works.
  2. So, I’ve both black based and preshaded Models... but never both together. I tried blackbasing for the first time recently and liked the effect on my hasegawa F/A-18F. I then used a black wash to bring out panel lines. I was curious though if it’s possible to do both? Or would that be too busy? My thought is black base the model, then Marble cost it. Then go back with a darker brown or something like that (but still lighter than the black base coat) and only preshade a few major panel lines, not all of them. Then paint over with the thinned top coat. Would this work or would it just be too much?
  3. In addition to building models, I also enjoy artwork. While a finished model is a work of art, I would like to augment my collection with some paintings. Does anyone know where I could look for some paintings of WWII fights, planes, aerial combat? I am not looking for prints (most of what I found after a quick google search). Any ideas? Thanks. - Jim
  4. Hello all, I know this sounds dumb but, can you use oil washes on models painted with Enamel paints? I was thinking if I let the Paint dry for a couple of days, five at most then add multiple coats of Matt cote then the oil wash wouldn't effect the paint? Could this be done? I've looked on the internet and forums for anything concerning oil and I couldn't find anything of use. I know that it sounds like a terrible idea but I really like the look of a oil wash and how much time it gives for fixing mistakes. I just wanted to make sure before I ruin the paint job on my Me-262 B-1/U-1 I'm working on. Any kind of help would be really appreciated, thanks!
