  2. Late getting this posted as I was out of town last week. Looking at another aircraft kit again this week, with Tamiya's 1/48th scale Spitfire Mk.1 kit. This is the older tooling of this aircraft released in the early 90's and not the new tooling that was release in 2018.

  4. Hello, am desperate to get a hold of decals for a 1/48 Spitfire mk. 22 for RAF 603 squadron City of Edinburgh or 602 City of Glasgow. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Hi guys Here I will post some photos from the Spitfires, I am currently building. I would like to ask for some advice, since these are my first builds (alongside with a F 16). Unfortunately, I don't have photos from the early stages. I used the Spitfires mostly to gain some experience using airbrush. For airbrushing I used a H&S Ultra airbrush, for the PRU schemed airplane I used AK's 3rd gen acrylics, while for the day fighter I used Humbrol Enamels. Both models were primed with Mr Surfacer 1200 and preshaded with black color, for the metallic base I used AK's True Metal Silve
  6. Hello, I am new in scale modeling. I used this kit (Dual Spitfire Combo) to gain some experience in airbrushing and basic techniques (I had an accident with one of the roundels but actually looks good). For painting the PRU Spitfire I used Tamiya and AK 3rd gen acrylics (camo). For weathering I used Winsor & Newton and Abteilung oil paints (raw amber for fuel leaks, ivory black for smoke, dark rust for oil leaks and zinc white + raw umber for dust effect), also I used AK's paneliner for grey and blue camo. For the metallic base for chipping I used AK's true metal silver. I pre shaded the m
  7. Hello, this Spitfire is my first complete build, I used it to gain some experience in airbrushing and basic techniques. For painting I used Humbrol Enamels (basic camo) and Tamiya and AK acrylics. For weathering I used Winsor & Newton and Abteilung oil paints (raw amber for fuel leaks, ivory black for smoke, dark rust for oil leaks and zinc white + raw umber for dust effect), also I used AK's paneliner for grey and blue camo (I know that looks overweathered but I had some accidents during masking). You can see that I tried some chipping (Never chip befor masking.....), for its base I used
  8. I admit that I don't know a lot about Spitfire marks, but I thought the only real differences between the Mk. VIII and IX is that the VIII had a more pointed rudder and retractable tail wheel. Is that right, or is there more to it? Any help is greatly appreciated!🍻
  9. Gonna be full filling my word this week and will be looking at another Spitfire. This week's kit is Airfix's Spitfire Mk. 22/24 in 1/48th scale.
  10. More aircraft kits this week as we take a look at Eduard's 1/48th scale Spitfire Mk.IXc kit in their Profit boxing.
  11. Just saw this over on another website. Airfix is releasing a new tool Spitfire Mk XIV. Sprue shots at this link. Can't wait to get my hands on this one. https://imodeler.com/2018/11/airfix-new-tool-1-48-supermarine-spitfire-fr-mk-xiv-review/
  12. Going back to large scale aircraft this week with a look at Revell's 1/32 scale Spitfire Mk.IXc kit.
  13. After a long hiatus, I decided to get back into model building. I have just started a Tankbuster Stuka (I think a G Model). Revell S5270. My painting has always been lacking but we'll see how I do. Down the road I would like to make a diorama of a crew performing maintenance on an aircraft, I was thinking a BOB (Battle of Britain) theme with a Mk I Spitfire or Hurricane or even a BF 109E. Any kits you all recommend for a cutaway to the engine? How do you do those types of cutaways? I assume after market resins of the engines and some serious custom work? Any advice on kits, resins
  14. built these two a while ago. I have always been fascinated with the captured aircraft markings from WWII. The Messershpit is the Tamiya MkVb with fusion resin conversion set which I have to say is superb and caused me very few issues. I also added a Yahu instrument panel and Eduard harness. Painted using Vallejo in the 'alternstive' scheme to the main stream thinking, but has a strong possibility of being correct in terms of the blue underside. The BF 109 is an OOB from Airfix club edition. Again lovley set!
  15. Hi All Looking for the `roundels`for an Israeli Spitfire IXe in 1/72. Anybody have some laying around? Gord
  16. SPITFIRE MK XII - SUSSEX, ENGLAND 1943 (AIRFIX 1/48) Spitfire MK XII - Airfix 1/48 For the first time in more than 25 years I've built an 1/48th scale model. This was a Kris-Kringle present and I decided to build it despite not being my preferred scale. So here we go! This new tooling Airfix kit is really very nicely done, excellent details and fine and crisp engraved panel lines. Also the fit is just perfect and I haven't use putty at all. The decals has two options and I decided to do one flown by South Australian RAAF Flight Lieutnant Donald Smith. Don
