Chris Kethan
Is the PM boxing of the D11 kit a rebox? If so, who originally made the molds? When I inspected the inner side of the lower wing, I counted 51 holes that had been flashed over. That certainly allows the lower wing to be used on just about every variant of the 190. This leads me to believe that it was originally a hasegawa mold. I'm sure ARC's kit authority, Dave Williams, will know the answer to this one. Thanks, Chris
jrallman
Actually, I believe it is the tri-master mold, with a couple plugs in the wings. unfortunately that means that the center of the lower wing is not correct and the plugs on the wings take some sanding to blend in. plus the cowl isnt bulged for the engine mounts. i have one in my stash, been gathering info on it, but dont know if i have the ambition to try to correct it just yet. bilkeau
It was originally the Trimaster Fw 190D-12 Torpedoflugzeug kit, with the Ta 152 tail changed back to the A/F/D style, which is why there's also some scarring around the fuselage box extension. Dunno if you've seen this: http://s102164210.onlinehome.us/forums/ind...showtopic=99747 Nick Edited November 9, 2006 by bilkeau
Chris Kethan
Thanks, Guys. Nick, Somehow I missed that thread. I didn't realize the D11 kit had so many inaccuracies. I'm not a rivet counter, so I'm not sure how many of these I'll incorporate into my build. I don't want to spend alot of money on resin, so I'll have to think on it and decide what approach I'll take. Thanks again, guys. Chris
jrallman
the wheel well and engine stuff is relatively inexpensive. However, in the end, its modeling, so if you are happy with it, thats all that matters!
