Recommended Posts

Awesome!! I've been waiting for the day the Model Gods release a 1/48 DRA! Could you please forward the part and kit numbers on and I'll get a spare-parts order in the mail.

TIA!!

The kit is 2655 and the part no for the DRA is 43C

Apologies as I thought I'd posted the pic of the decals

Saw this kit in my local hobby store today....just had to buy one.

It does look pretty good in the box, although i do agree with the comments on the weapons...oh well

Why oh Why do we still get kits with decal cockpits <_< guess i'm gonna have to try a source a resin one from somewhere and make it fit.

Decal look ok,i'm really only interested in the Alconbury USAFE jet, sadly they screwed up on this one, colours are wrong, the name plates should be dark blue edged in gold, with the pilot's name in gold old english script...not the standard grey ones used by the regular jets assigned the 509TFS

Still its a workable project...

Cyrus,

I agree with you on that one, if only because it's just one more fit problem. However, I definitely plan on buying one....maybe more than one if the first one goes together well. Other than a few minor nitpicks on my end (besides the cockpit), it looks pretty good overall, and I plan on picking up both this kit and the Hobby Boss offering. Don't forget....all of those R/M kits sitting on the shelf will provide all kinds of spare parts, if necessary. :P

Can't wait to see your build review of the two kits! Do you think it would be terribly hard to backdate either kit to a Euro One looking Hawg? i.e. paint and decal scheme of the Tamiya offering, as I'm assuming it would be pre-LASTE?

Hi Marvin,

The Italeri kit will probably be the easiest to build a Euro One A-10 with. Their decal sheet contains 2 such aircraft, the AR and EL coded ones.

And from what I've read here, I gather that the "latest warts" are separate pieces of plastic on the Italeri kit and moulded onto the airframe on the Hobby Boss kit. But I have neither kit in my posession...yet. :P

Cheers, Stefan.

That's music to my ears! From what I've seen, the SuperScale sheet of the "EL" subject looks a bit sharper than Italeri's offering, not that they're bad, but if the SuperScale sheet is going to play hard to get then I'll quite happily use the box decals. Just have to wait and see how it goes together, but I think my Tamiya kit will be winging it's way to eBay.......!

Has anyone got the old ESCI kit that they can photograph the sprues in order we can do a comparison here?

This kit has absolutely nothing except the subject matter in common with the ESCI kit. Not a single thing. It's a direct scale-up of the Italeri 1/72 A-10 kit of a few years ago.

Marv,

That would be the ground refuelling point - Italeri has molded the cap separately, giving the impression of being shortened. I believe that it's on the port (left wing) sponson, though.

Jason

Also, (forgive my ignorance) what's with the shortened main wheel sponson on the starboard side?
