Rick in Maine
I haven't been able to figure this one out from my various serial # books. Yeah, I'm sort of a spotter-type in addition to modeling! I have a slide, shot in 1977 by a long lost photographer, at Davis Monthan (transient ramp), of an OV-1(probably a C) registered N6740. It has a glossy blue and white c/s and no other markings except N-number. There's a turret under the nose that resembles an A-6 TRAM. What I'd like to find is the military serial and the user. This was long before Mohawks had made it into warbird circles. I suspect US Dept. of Interior or AEC or something kinky. A check of the FAA registry was no help. Ideas welcome. Khan
USGS, huh? That's interesting. Kinda makes me want to build one, so I did a search. I actually ran across a picture of the one you were talking about, Rick: http://www.ov-1mohawk.org/N6740.jpg
