The problem is the Moskit exhausts come as one unit for each side, not individual exhausts, and they tend to be pretty fragile so cutting them apart wasn't an option. I had originally planned to insert them via the opening in the nose where the annular radiator sits (after painting) but realized that with the accessory section in place I wouldn't have enough room to maneuver them into place. So I painted the RLM76 in the area of the exhausts and then inserted them prior to closing the fuselage. With the paint already in place it won't be very difficult to mask that area and I get the exhausts I want. And as the exhaust staining in real life probably would have been on all the stacks except the first one anyway, I should be okay there too.

Darn; that was the advantage of the babies I used. They were 6 separate pices. They

were nice but yours do look a little nicer.

Thanks, I appreciate the comments.

While waiting for some cockpit detail painting to dry I decided to try assembling the Aires photo etch shoulder belts. I've been avoiding them for a while as they struck me as a bit daunting (each belt is made up of six seperate photo etch pieces) but since I was just sitting there I figured "what the heck." Well the first one kind of kicked my butt, and took at least forty minutes to get together but I figured out from that one how to streamline the process a bit and the second one only took fifteen to twenty minutes. They still need to be painted but I'm happy with how they look, and they should drape real well as the material is pretty thin:

While I'm waiting for some RLM76 to dry I decided to work on some smaller details. I don't know if they are still making Bf 109 and Fw 190 prop blades or not, but there was (is) a company down in Austrailia called Wedgetail who made great 1/32 resin blades. I picked up a set a couple of years ago and did some clean up work on them today. They're a great improvement over the kit blades:

I also wanted to add brake lines to the gear legs but wanted them to appear as if the lines were under the brackets on the legs. I thought I'd use small wire segments between the brackets but then realized I could probably drill small holes in each one and slip the wire through after I painted them. It worked out pretty well:

The paint work is moving along. I've added a couple shades of RLM76 to try to differentiate the subassemblies. Here's the rudder, the tail and the fuselage extension, which appears darker than the surrounding colors in photos:

Eventually the spinner will be yellow and black but in photos you can see that it was originally black with a white spiral and then overpainted. I started by painting the spinner white:

then added a Tamiya tape spinner stripe that I made by enlarging a 1/48 spinner decal on a copier machine and transfering to the tape:

Then the whole thing was painted black and the tape removed:

I've started the RLM75 and should be able to make more progress with it tomorrow. Thanks for looking.

Nose added, seams filled, cockpit and wheelwells masked. I should be able to start painting this evening:

I like the subtlety of your wash here. Is it a pastel wash, Tamiya smoke, oil wash, water color, some other method?

Thanks. The wash is made up of a small amount of Model Master Acryl Raw Umber, water and a drop or so of liquid dishwashing detergeant to help it flow. I keep a small jar full of it around and when it gets low I add a bit more of each ingredient. I've found it works pretty well for just about any weathering, but particularly on panel lines.
