True details 1/48 F-4 Phantom intakes for Hasegawa Phantoms

They're not scale intakes. They have a shortened intake, with a small compressor face, sort of an attempt at an optical illusion so it looks deeper than it really is. I guess it's better than the kit set-up, but not as good as what you'd get with Cutting Edge's or Seamless Suckers' full intakes.

OK guys,

The cockpit isn't really new, its the old KMC stuff. Still decent, but it ain't new. Haven't seen the intakes, so I can't tell you about them yet. Years ago Sqaudron bought the KMC masters and molds. They sat for a couple of years, and now are SLOWLY being released one at a time through the TD line. If they follow suit, look for eventual release of the E, and J set in 48th as well. I am still awaiting a couple of the resin items they just relased last month for the Skyraider/Spad.

KMC had some good stuff. Jef V. of Black Box (now Combat Series and Avionix) did alot of thier masters, Willy Peeters did some as well. With Black Box scarcity, I would think the marketing folks at Squadron are trying to fill a void in the market here since Jef hasn't popped out a 48th scale F-4 cockpit in a long time.

A little history lesson for Y'all this morning,

As for the F-4 cockpits, they are not as detailed as the black box items, but are almost direct replacements for the kit parts. Therefore, the cutting and sanding (and cursing) required is much less and IMHO look very good once installed. You get very nice sidewall detail, detailed inst. panels with wiring for the rear decking as well as nice seats that are specific to either USAF or USN versions.

Their F-8 and F-105 pits are really awesome for the monogram kits and the price can't be beat!
