F-14 or F-15??

Recommended Posts

Hi Jet guys!!

I build mostly WWII stuff ( 1/72) scale and have really only built just a few jets ( a couple of Mirage F-1's for a friend and

an A-10 for my Boss)

However, I have been collecting Jet kits ever since I got back into modeling so I have about 70 or so kits.

I have 4 Hasegawa F-14 Tomcats ( A, A+, B, D) And 4 Hasegawa/ 1 Revell F-15's ( A, C, 2 J's and the Revell/Hasegawa E which

I know is not really accurate for the E model)

Both of these kits look like they don't just fall togeather!! My question is which is the harder build?

I also have 7 Revell F-16 kits and 5 Hasegawa F-16 kits but these don't look to hard to build.

But the F-14 and F-15 have me worried!!

I've only built Hase Cats (although I have an F-15 in the Stash) and I'd say the Cat is a tough bird to build because tthey used 5 pieces when 3 would have been fine. The Eagle I have has rised panel lines, I don't know if this is the same kit we're talking about

HTH

Take Care

I've built both Hasegawa F-14s and F-15C/Es 1/72s, and I have to say that the F-14s are definitely harder to build. The complexity of the shape of the plane along with the certain "unnecessary" complexities of what Hasegawa did in terms of moding (as Mario described above) makes it that much more difficult.

Hi,

I have build both (5 F-14s and 3 F-15s) and both are the best in their scale on the market.

The F-15 must be easier to build. This said I would not claim the F-14 is such a difficult build : It definetely is a model for the experienced modeler but it builds quite well with care.

Your question is : which is the harder to build? Then reply is F-14 is.

Regards

Eric.
