MoFo
Having seen the model (and base) in person, I'll echo those who say that pictures don't do it justice. Great lookin' build. And having one of the bases in question, that thing is even more kick-*** than the pictures would make you think.
janman
Great! Both the base and the model plus their effect combined. Would consider buying such a base, providing it would be in 1/72 and would represent a typical concrete runway of a Russian AB.
Ken Middleton
One thing I forgot to mention in my original post is that I used decals to replicate the rivets on the rear fuselage, here's a close-up. (Apologies for the photo quality, bear in mind it's a 1/72 model so this is enlarged about 300%) decals for rivets? you're like a serial hobby killer beautful Mike, simply beautiful
Mark M.
You wouldn't have to do the entire base, just the numbers and arrows. That would take up a lot less room. EDIT: Oh, sorry for bumping a dead thread, I neglected to look at the post dates. My bad. Edited June 13, 2007 by Mark M.
twobobs
A quickie build for me (about 3 weeks). AMT (Esci) 1/72 F-104 finished as a QF-104 drone, built OOB except for the addition of a Matchbox pilot and a Greif lens. Biggest hurdle was building it with u/c up, the gear doors weren't designed to be closed so there was a lot of sanding and filling to make them flush. Decals are from the kit. Dayglo paint doesn't photograph too well, it's much brighter than this in real-life. The model was built for a 'Need for Speed' theme contest at my local club, hence the blurry base which I did in Photoshop. Dude, that's pretty awesome...
