Erdferkel
Just heard the news that 2 F-16 had to divert to Iceland because of a fuel systems failure and that the jets arent insured during the fligth because somebody forget that O_o

Not this one. If it did, it'd be a helluva coincidence! Here's a link to a Stars-n-Stripes article. Howdahell can someone "forget" to insure something like that?

Josh1971
So how many total does Poland have now? And does Poland still have a lot of their old Soviet stuff? jb Edited December 12, 2006 by Josh1971
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Well, I can't imagine they'd have gotten rid of the Soviet stuff before getting plenty to replace it with....
ChernayaAkula
And does Poland still have a lot of their old Soviet stuff? I'm sure they do. Plus they received some old Soviet stuff in the form of 23 formerly German MiG-29s. Man, what a twist. A NATO member inheriting planes from a former Warsaw pact member hands them over to a new NATO member that was a Warsaw pact member before! B) Interesting times, these are! Piotrek.S.
Four Falcons aka Hawks (as they named in Poland) landed safely at Krzesiny Poznan AFB 14.20 local time. So we got 8 Vipers (at this time first four are dismounted at Krzesiny AFB due to custom control). Russian planes in Polish AF are represented by 44 MiGs-29 (officialy - in flight service there will be 36 in two squadrons) and circa 50 Su-22M4 and Su-22 UM3. Also we have 5 An-26 cargo planes. Helo`s are represented by Mi8/17 transporters, Mi-24 Hinds (D`s and V`s) and Mi-14 (anti sub and SAR). Vipers will be located at 3 squadrons (first one have 8 F-16 so far, second have Fitters by now and third has only TS-11 Spark trainers). P.S. AirForce One and AirForce Two are Tupolev`s Tu-154 Lux. see ya
Josh1971
Sounds like a pretty good air force in Poland. Glad to hear the vipers landed safely there! JB
