boscosticks
So I had to move, and I packed my current project up [pretty well, I thought]. Well, I took a look at it after I unpacked and it turns out that a couple of parts shuffled around and broke. Most of the damages are minor parts that can easily be fixed. However... I'm stuck with two broken wheels, snapped off from their axles. I tried to glue the parts back onto the main landing gear... but the wheels flop off easily after the cement dries. I know that once the plane is fully assembled, the glue won't be strong enough to keep the wheels on the landing gear, considering the weight of the plane will put the wheels under a lot of stress. Does anyone have an idea as to how I can fix this problem? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in Advanced!!!
Graham T
Use a short length of brass wire. Simply drill a hole in the leg & centre of the wheel, insert the wire & CA it in. In fact, it's often worth doing this anyway to reinforce a weak joint & prevent it happening in the future. If you don't posses a twist drill, buy one - it's an invaluavble & inexpensive tool! TonyG
No biggie, I use .032 brass rod from my hobby shop. The drill size for the pin vise is size 73 or 74. Drill through both broken parts, run the rod through CA glue and Voila! fixed part. I got to the point I need to have brass rod around. Sausage fingers and small parts are not a good match.
