mybmw60
Hi Fellow Model Junkies, I have finally gotten to the stage of applying a matt finish to my 1/32 Arii Zero and while not a brilliant model for fit or finish i used it to experiment varying techniques. My question is what and how much do i mix with my Humbrol Matt Cote to finally finish this nightmare. cheers Jesse
brettkp
Assuming you're airbrushing, I mix mine with turpentine till it's very thin (like you'd spray any paint) and spray several light coats. I haven't had any luck getting a consistent finish with brush painting (but I only tried once before I bought and airbrush!). Hope that helps, Brett

brettkp
I tend to build it up in light coats with not much time in between (a few minutes max). I just make sure it never gets so 'wet' that it runs. If you're nervous about using it, I'd suggest trying it on some scrap first...but it's really not hard to use...it's one of the few things I haven't had a problem with (yet)! :) Good luck Brett Edited January 1, 2007 by brettkp

Tbolt
Mix it between 40:60 (40% thinners) to 50:50 with standard white spirit.
ron
Mix it between 40:60 (40% thinners) to 50:50 with standard white spirit. Humbrol is all I use for matt coat and same here with the mix. Apply with light coats letting it dry to the touch between coats. Three coats ussually does the trick
Jager 151
Please follow the writing on the label and dilute with white spirit, on no account use turps substitute, just turns to jelly !
T0M4ever
Wouldn't spraying white spirit over a model wreck the paint? Even if it is mixed with something else.

Not if you let the colour coat fully cure. Don't make the mistake I made though and thin with Lacquer Thinner.....that doesn't work not sure why I tried it Mix 50/50 white spirit (regular old 'paint thinner' in N.A.) The other thing is.....stir the stuff in the jar _really_ well until it's well mixed. If you don't it will take forever to dry.
nautilas
I dont know if this is done by anyone else but i thin using enamel thinners then stand the container in a cup of hot water and spray the matt coat on warm it dries very qiuck and is very matt.roy.
