Hobbyboss kits in1/72 scale

Recommended Posts

Maybe some of you know about these kits?

I've never seen one ( 1/72 scale) and would like to know how they compair in detail with other manufactures?

If the fuse is one piece, then how are the cockpits done?

Thanks, Henry

Yep, and I've got a kitbash with parts of one going on over in the In-Progress Threads (F4U-4 kitbash). They're wonderfully detailed externally, beautifully done, but they're for older/younger/less experienced folks or who have very little time for the hobby...and so contrasting with so much accuracy and external detail are elements that seem almost toylike, as in the weapons pylons and cockpit and engine of the F4U I'm using parts from.

Interesting perception, The cockpits in the Hobbyboss kits are not mucg less detailed than I would put into my 'normal' models, especially with the cockpit closed.

I'm inclined to agree there. I'm more of a "colours and markings" guy myself, so tricking out the cockpit of every kit I build isn't too high on my list of priorities, though I'm quite happy to do it when I'm in the mood.

If that makes me "older/younger/less experienced folks or who have very little time for the hobby", then so be it! I've been called worse!

I'm certainly having fun with the Hobby Boss P-40B.

Cheers,

Mark.

I am in the throes of building a P-47D Thunderbolt and the cockpit looks damn fine with a little bit of work.

I am talking straight forward work. Tape harnesses, and a decal IP combined with careful detail painting. Should look fine under the clear parts. <_<

When the industry rep brought a sample (Hellcat) in to the club meeting, he immediately told us that the HobbyBoss 1:72 range (not the Mirage et al) were for junior modelers and those time challenged modelers who just wanted to get them built and use up the decals they have tonnes of :)

Well, I should point out that I'm a fan of cockpit detail, very much so, plus the fact that I can especially speak of their F4U-4. It's got a fairly nicely shaped seat devoid of any other detail, and a featureless stick, but nothing other than that really. Honestly, even my rare closed canopy builds get more than that...but that's just me.
