162916 Has Arrived At Her New Home

Recommended Posts

On January 14th, 2004, 162916 launched from Oceana armed with six, yes six live AIM-54Cs. It marked the first time an operational squadron launched six AIM-54s. Five found their targets. Pretty impressive. Note the OIF scoreboard depicting 35 missions flown.

Stopped by today on the way home from the range. Not quite ready for prime time but she has been cleaned up with all the road salt removed.

Dave, she's looking pretty nice there in her new home !

Tomcats are use to another type of salt eh ?

Thanks for the update shot sir !

F-14B apr-96 NAD Norfolk (VA)

Cheers Nico

What does NAD mean? is that some kind of short term storage?

Hi,

NAD should read NADEP=Naval Aviation Depot

It means 162916 was seen in apr 1996 at NADEP Norfolk. (possibly for the upgrade program to F-14B(U) but that is unconfirmed)

Cheers Nico
