Hasegawa FW 190 A3 1/48

Recommended Posts

Hi all first time posting picks so please be kind. (or don’t)

Picked up modeling again after about a 15 year layoff and have been trolling around here trying to pick stuff up. Like the title said Hasegawa FW 190 A3 1/48 build out of the box (I love those big black eagles) except for some PE seatbelts. This is my third kit in my modeling revival and the first time I ever attempted a mottle paint scheme.

Finished with a mix of Acryl and Gunz paints

Any suggestions / input / criticisms, I would love to hear them all

Looks great. I just uncorked this kit myself.

How are the decals? What did you use to settle them down?

thanks

Alot of people seem to complain about Hasegawa decals but I have had pretty good luck with them. to get them to settle down I use Mr Hobby Mr Mark Softer (don'e blame me I did not name it)

I find with Hasegawa decals you need to pretty liberal with the stuff

Nice job, Grobber. It looks like you never had a break in modelling - especially not a 15 year one!

What's your next project? If you want another good luftwaffe plane to do some more mottling, try one of the hasegawa 109 series, or the Tamiya 262. Great kits.

This one turned out really nice.

I did the FW 190 towards the end of last year and have done a Tamiya P51 that is olive drab since then. I found that painting 1 or 2 colours has its own challenges especially when try to create a sense of depth

I have 2 kits on the bench right now a Dragon Ju88 c6 that I am converting to Prince zu Sayn-Wittgenstein’s bird so I am waiting on some parts from the LHS to convert Gondola and other pieces. Paint will be a black underside with mottled RLM 74 & 75. I basically wanted to try a kit that would require a bunch of filling, scribing, body work… plus I love playing with the airbrush.

The other one on the go is an Eduard Pfalz D.IIIa which is a real change of pace since I really do not know anything about the plane and have never done a biplane before. I am still trying to come up with a good wood grain finish for the cockpit. It is so delicate tiny when compared to the Ju88 (both 1/48)
