landing geear/wheel well wash

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I used an acrylic wash of Tamiya light grey to wash the white wheel wells on my SEA 104. Didnt come out looking very grubby or oily or realistic or good :)

What colour is good to create that grimey/oily look without overdoing it?

Also whats the technique to wiping up raised areas after applying?

TIA

Kevin

Tamiya Smoke! Its the best + no mixing colors required.

So i hear! thanks ive got some ill try it

How do i remove the previous wash if its already cured? If i futured before i did the wash could i use IPA to clean the wash without harming the paint underneath? If not, would cotton bud dipped in water work?

Your best bet to remove anything acryl (incl. future) is a cotton bud dipped in any type of weak base solution like ammonia (windex). You have to be really careful, though, cause it will lift acryl paint as easily as future.
