Chuck1945
From the FineMold Bf 109G-10 kit, here is the Bf 109G-6/AS 'Black 14' WNr 412179, Uffz Horst Petzschler. The aircraft was lost 30 May 1944 when Fw Büssow was shot down and killed while flying it. These were G-6s equiped with an uprated DB605AS engine to give better performance at high altitude and the theory was that the AS equiped staffel would take on the P-51s allowing the 'normal' 109s a better opportunity at the bombers - it seldom worked out according to theory though, with unfortunate results for the Luftwaffe. This is my first effort using pastels to simulate the heavy exhaust staining that the photo of this aircraft shows. I used a dark gray pastel pencil to pencil in the staining, and then blended/blurred the pencil lines with a stiff brush. These images have been updated with better ones now that I have a flash that actually illuminates the subject. Edited March 21, 2007 by Chuck1945
