Hi

Well having knocked out the Sopwith Schneider I got quite distracted from the HP 88 I'm supposed to be working on and launched into the Hunter Mk3. Now this is part made I'm distracted again.

I noticed on the group build that there is a 1/48 Testors Supermarine S6B which I didnt know had ever been kitted. The price of an isolated life style I suppose. Well anyway I managed to find one on EBay, UK, and got someone on here to buy it for me. He sent it to my Mom in the UK who has posted it on and now I have it here in China. There are only 12 parts so it stands a good chance of being in the water for the May deadline.

If anyone knows any glaring errors with the kit please post them here and I'll save a bit of time on research.

Cheers

Colin W

Here's a pic of one I built several years ago.

(pic taken with a 35mm and scanned)

From what I can remember, the fuse needed a bit of putty as well as the floats, fit was decent. All-in-all it's not a bad kit.

Not so much a glaring error, but a slight suspicion: I think that the racing number of the S6B that won the Schneider Trophy was "1". The serial was either S1595 or S1596. I presume you will do your research thoroughly, and if you do, you may or may not find an error with the kit.

Thanks.

The number issue is quite interesting as S1595 won the "race" but was numbered 7 at the time as displayed above by Mark. It is however today preserved carrying the number 1. On the race day it apprears 1596 was number 1 and the S4 was number 4.

Unless you know different......

Cheers

Well I was going well but in the process of cleaning my airbrush tonight I managed to rip the thread on the paint nozzle and so its completly stuffed. Arrrgh Why did I decide to mess with it.

I didnt know the kit existed until I saw it on the group build page. I managed to buy one in January off a guy in the UK who bought it off ebay for me and then sent it to my Mom in the UK who posted it to me in China. Its got this far so this is a double wammy. Unless I can find someone with an airbrush in this city then this is as far as I'll get until I can get a spare part. Anyone know the Chinese for "Airbrush" or the address of the local Iawata dealer?
