I'd like to see a sheet of these birds:

1/48 sharkmouth Apaches.

1-3 ATKHB, 3rd ID birds; B Company, 1-501 ATKHB; 1st Armored, and 1-151st ATKHB, SC ANG.

Other Apaches:

Devil Dance 82nd Airborne; 1-101 ATKHB, 101st Airborne OIF

Looks like someone read my book.

The SC Apaches sheet has been in the works for a while. I'm waiting on some refs from the unit, but it'll happen soon. I've actually got plans for 3 sheets on the AH-64, just need to figure out how to do em.

Have some other stuff too, but it looks like I may have to have em done independently, since no one really wants to do them.

Jon

PS, "Devil's Dance" wasn't assigned to the 82nd, it was with 1-229th ATKHB, XVIII Abn Corps Aviation. They did fly in support of the 82nd, but that wasn't all they did. That was my buddy's aircraft.

I would like to see Medevac decals in 1/48 for Viet Nam era Huey's through today's Blackhawks.

Of course I would really like to see a resin interior for the Medevacs too.

Then that CH-53 E profile would be really nice.

I hope somebody is watching

joe.

USAF Helos

- Pave Hawks

- Super Jolly Green Giants/Pave Lows

- UH-1N (20th SOS Leopard and two-tone gray schemes)

US Army

- SC ARNG AH-64A

- MH-60L

- NATO schemed AH-1 and UH-60s

- 1970s 4-color camouflaged AH-1 Jon informed me that the stencils were the same as OD AH-1s, so all one would need are Fireball decals and to know what the tail number(s) is.

I cant believe no one out there has jumped on some decal options for Academy's 1/48 Sea Stallion. Copters seem to be the forgotten bastard step children locked in the basement of the decal aftermarket.

Yup. I've got a set of 1:48 Superscale/Microscale HH-53 decals (Euro1 and Satellite recovery white over gray scheme) and the 1:72 version and I've no plans to part with them until I use 'em!

As I noted in another thread, what I'd really like to see is markings for Iraq War (the current one, not 1991) helos in 1/72. USMC UH-1Ns, AH-1Ws, CH-46Es, CH-53Es, MV-22s and US Army AH-64A/Ds, UH-60s, and CH-47s would be awesome. Come on - we have war history in the making going on right now! Let's model it!

Mike,

You just had to go there didn't you! Man you have hit my sore spot. I started my little endever to produce decals for helicopter modelers because as many have said the helicopter market is neglected.

As anyone in my local IPMS chapter will attest, I I should be building a model! on this subject frequently. In my opnion the reason helicopter kist do not sell well is because there are so few after market decals options. Most kits come with one or 2 very boring options as we all know.

Over the last 4 or 5 years I have read every thread that metioned decals for helicopters. In many cases I even gathered stacks of photos and even prepared the artwork for the decals that people were screaming for. The amazing thing is that when I have posted that decals will be produce I get 75 to 100 requests then I get 1 or 2 orders. As a result I have disks full of artwork that will never be printed.

Microscale did some very nice decals sheets for helicopters. But of the hundreds of sheets they produced only 12-15 contained helicopters. Why? Because those sheets did not sell well. Most sheets were only printed 1 or 2 times .

2 Bobs did very well with their Cobra decals. I have not asked Creighton at MAW how his recent sheet has done but I hope you all bought 2 or 3 sets and while your at it be sure to tahnk him for the rsik he has taken to produce that sheet. How many of you guys even know waht the minumum order is to get decals printed by Microscale? Cutting Edge and Belchers Bits have also done decal sheets but again most of those sheets were only printed once.

I apologize to all for this long I should be building a model! but everyone needs to remember that the guys who produce aftermarket decals do it because of their love of the hobby not because there are trying to get rich.

For everyone that read this entire post thanks for your attention, I will crawl back in my dark rotorhead corner now and behave.

Aloha

Gary,

No one said anything about trying to get rich off of helicopter decals. As I said previously, I've been working on several sheets worth of Army helicopter decals and have done so for my own enjoyment (and that of others) rather than any desire to make money off of it.

The lack of decals right now simply doesn't match up with the current releases. I'm baffled as to why we haven't seen decals for CH-53s, CH-46s and CH-47As in 48th scale. Other kits, like the Italeri OH-58A/C have been out for years, but are in current release and come with simplified markings that are less than appealing. There have been two attempts at AM decals for the AH-64D and both have come up short in the accuracy department, and there's nothing available for US AH-64A's.

Since there are new kits available for the aforementioned helicopters and sales seem to be going rather well for them, why not put out sheets to go with em?
