Cyrus Tan
G'day all. :) Here's a few progress shots of my new Hornet. I'm using the Black Box cockpit, Golden Dragon wheel set, Orion Models tail braces, Eduard PE, and CE flaps and slats. The kit is completely scribed. Hope you like it? David Walker
CE makes a flaps and slats set for a Legacy Hornet? Yup, part number 48045, specifically for the Monogram kit: Edited April 13, 2007 by David Walker

CraigSargent
Hey Reeves! Clark! I thought one of you guys was supposed to be headed round to break his fingers... Nice work Cyrus, but to be honest, I\'d be inclined to knock the rivet depth back a bit with some Mr Surfacer. That\'s just me, still looks very clean over all. Impatient Pete
I had heard about such things (Cyrus Tan's Monogram Hornet) but dismissed it as the stuff of urban legend. Now I have seen it with my own eyes and I do believe! WOW! Sweet and a total inspiration! Thanks, Pete

markiii
What's up ? Fantastic work as usual. What scheme are you doing ? I guess I won't enter any 48th scale jet categories coming up, I would'nt stand a chance :D Mark
KRI76
OMG! The best scribing job I have ever seen! /Kristian
John B
Good job catching and eliminating the FSD-jet-only features the Monogram didn't eliminate when they updated the kit. (Oddly some of those features still exist on the Revell-Monogram's C kit!)
neu
WOW! I just did not realize at the first sight that it's re-scribed! Really good job, rarely seen this perfect re-scribing! Greetings, neu

Cyrus Tan
Thank you for all the kind comments guys! OK, c'mon, tell us how you did the scribing....... Matt...nothing extraordinary. I just used a needle in a pin vise, Verlinden scribing templates 1/48 & 1/72, curve templates from Hasegawa/Tritool, rivet templates from Hasegawa/Tritool, pounch wheels, dymo tape, various git sand paper, a no. 80 drill bit, and lots of patience. I usually scribe all the parts first before comitting to glue with the exception of panel lines that cross seam joints. I scribe those after the parts are glued so you get aligned panel lines. I scribe over the raised lines. Make a few light passes until you are satisfied with the panel line depth. It's a time consuming process and a different way of building, but with enough practice one should be able to turn out same results or better. HTH?
Cyrus Tan
I thought one of you guys was supposed to be headed round to break his fingers... Craig... I think Reeves said that. :lol:What's up ? Fantastic work as usual. What scheme are you doing ? Hey Man I'm definitely going to do an aggressor this time, but not sure which Blue or Brown? I've been kinda leaning towards the brown scheme from VFC-13 with the Hi-Decal sheet. It's the one with the Iragi flags on the tail and the "01" bort no. on the nose. "Yes" it's a target! I'll see ya around dude. Edited April 13, 2007 by Cyrus Tan
gistsc
I thought I was insane! Absolutly stunning work. I cant wait to see the finished product.

okthree
I too will comment on the scribing. That has to be the cleanest scribed panel lines I have ever seen. I wish I could get mine to look that way.
Matt_S
If this turns out like your previous efort, it'll be a sure winner. Matt :)
chriss7606
I almost don't believe that's Monogram's Hornet! The surface detailing looks on par with Academy's 1/32 kit. Very nice work, and by all means post more pics!
