Matchbox Fj-4 Fury 1/48

Recommended Posts

I have been asking for suggestions for resin update sets for early jets. I have had several requests for a set for the old Matchbox FJ-4 "toyâ€.

I have the Grand Phoenix kit. The resin is nicely done, however, the parts don’t fit well at all. It will take a goodly amount of time and effort to make the GP kit into a nice piece. I have read some of the reviews .I ended up putting in my stash.

I am considering doing an update set for the Matchbox guys. Some of the parts could be more accurate for the GP kit as well.

My companies name is AMS Resin, the prescription for Advanced Modelers Syndrome.

So, you know who is being challenged into doing some of the Matchbox Fj-4s.

Let me know what you think

Cheers,

Harold

YES YES YES :yahoo:

Put me down for a couple, I love this kit, I would rather do it than the GP kit which to way over engineered.

For infor Airwaves do a PE set which includes a wing fold and you can get a bang seat, apart from that I have found nothing else.

I've got one too for US$4 at the local HS.

It's pretty crude, really toy-like.

That's why I called it a "toy"

However, after doing some research, I have found it is fairly close to the correct shape and length. The horizontal stabs have to be shortened. It just needs a LOT of details. It has a few raised panel lines to be removed.

I have never been a big advocate of scribed panel lines, so, I build mostly old kits with raised lines. I usually pencil them and shade. I know the industry standard is recessed panel lines. And, I think that the guys that do the beautiful works of art with recessed panel lines are to be commended.

I just like to do mine without them.

The old kits are in dire need of detail. I have been scratch building the details for my own kits for years. I have had many requests for copies of my work.

I started with the RF/F-84F series. They have been well received.

Now I’m looking at another dust collector.

There are a lot of old kits around. They make real modelers out of you.....LOL

Cheers,

Harold

Thank you for the links.

I will be ordering them today.

I'm not too sure about the seat, as far as is being accurate. I am doing the research now.

Cheers,

Harold

Harold this is the same seat you get in the grand pheonix kit, I have checked the Ginter book on the FJ-4B and it is very similar, the leg guards are different though in the book, they go up where as the pavla seta ones go forward.
