A couple of late war 1/72 109's

Recommended Posts

In the better late than never category, these are a couple of 109's that didn't make the deadline for the DOTR GB.

First up is a G-10 from II./JG 52. This is Revell's G-10 with the Loon Models resin corrections set. I also used an Eduard PE interior, Moskit exhauts, and True Deatils resin wheels. It also has a Hasegawa G-6 tail grafted on. I've got kind of a fascination with the Revell G-10. It's not perfect by any stretch, but it kind of grows on you and makes you want to correct the flaws. The Finemolds G-10 is just much better so my remaining G-10's will most likely become G-6/AS or G-14/AS birds, they lend themselves pretty well to this conversion. Decals are from Aeromaster, as you can see by comparison with the color profile the "Gigi" script, numbers, and II Gruppe bar should be yellow, oh well. I'm sure a correct set will become available now that I'm done. <_< The paint is Aeromaster acrylic.

"Gigi" was flown from Deutsch-Brod to surrender to the Americans at Neubigburg on May 8. Interesting in the fact that a G-6 style tail was attached. The profile is from Japo's "Messerschmitt Bf 109G-10/U4, Production and Operational Servive". This book is outstanding and I would recommend it to all Luftwaffe and Bf 109 enthusiasts.

And next up is K-4 conversion from the Revell G-10 kit. Experten will notice a couple of errors but as long as It's not mistaken for a Ju 88 I guess I'm OK. I've used an Eduard PE interior and True Details resin wheels. A Heller 109K donated a propellor and the outboard landing gear doors to the project. Other than that pretty much stock. As is my usual practice I've dropped some of the control surfaces as well. Decals are from a Kagero book on the 109 and paint is Aeromaster acrylic.

This plane was flown by Oblt. Ernst-Georg Altnorhoff of 13./JG 27 from Achmer in the Spring of '45.
