janman
Very nice pictures, Zmey! The shots of the shark mouthed Mig-27 on that same page were cool too.
Almansur
Almansur has a malicious sense of humour:1. The YouTube video is about a pervert who raped a minor. 20 lashes was too kind for him. Amen, brother! ;) Just trying to poke some fun at the expense of the Sukoi crowd!
Andre
Very nice pictures, Zmey! The shots of the shark mouthed Mig-27 on that same page were cool too. As well as the Yak-28 shots - thanks! Cheers, Andre
Flankerman
Wow! - new photos are appearing faster than I can save them......... I definitely feel a Su-27UB conversion coming on...... Anyone know where I can get a set of the VFA Productions decals ?? everywhere I have checked is 'sold out' Ken Doh! ;) I have just been through my collection of Flanker decals - and I already have the VFA decals. I really am getting old - I can't even remember what I was........................ :) So, Sukhoi are bringing out new variants nearly every week. Air Forces around the world are purchasing new versions of the Flanker. The decal manufacturers (Linden Hill, Begemot, VFA, Hi Decal etc) are providing us with some excellent sheets with beautiful colour schemes. The only people not on the bandwaggon are the kit manufacturers ;) Come on guys, where are the kits of this important Russian success story ??? There are zillions of kits of Spitfires, Bf-109's, F-16's, F/A-18's, F-15's etc etc. BUT STILL NOT A SINGLE ACCURATE KIT, IN ANY SCALE, OF ANY MEMBER OF THE FLANKER FAMILY !!!!! If I wasn't so normal, I would suspect a conspiracy! ;) Ken
Shark
thank you VERY much for sharing!!!! vector thrust, canards, glass cockpit ... SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and as Flankerman says, we need accurate kits of this airframe. Shark

Su-34
Ohhh.... I just can smell the freshly painted Sukhoi! Pretty unusual layout of those MFD's in the pit, 2 on the left, and 1 on the other side! I WANT AN ACCURATE (and good) FLANKER IN ANY SCALE! OR ANY VARIANT! aargghh Those outstanding Russian birds just arent getting the respect they need! That sucks! PS. Anyone noticed "slime lights"? davetur
Most likely, since they are angled 45 deg off the centerline. Also, the housings for the RWR on the sides of the engine intakes seem different from the usual ones. Interesting to see western-style formation lights. Davide The new beautiful shots in the link confirm: This one is rearwards facing (as opposed to the standard Flanker) and cover the rear quarter: same sensor as this which cover the front quarter: Davide

Davide Well, waiting for Trump's 1/72 UB kit! Might even choose to do this bird if there will be decals for it. That would need a bit of modifications though... More than a bit. There are decals for it actually! ----> TwoBobs Page Go to VFA Productions and Scroll right to the bottom of the page or I guess you can contact the owner itself -->Aidy (He's one of the forumers as well) Here's how the decals looks like... P.S Not getting anything out of it though, just giving some leads to the decals <_<

This plane is built in Russia for Malaysia, yet the language written on the plane's access panels and such are in English.

Flankerman
How about 1/144 scale??my current project... :) :) :) :) Nice model olemanjoe, what kit is it ??? If it is the Dragon Flanker, then it scales out at approx 1:163, NOT 1:144. It doesn't matter too much - as long as you don't put it next to a REAL 1:144 scale model - if you do that, then the Flanker looks waaaaay undersize! Ken
Jan
I find these interesting. This plane is built in Russia for Malaysia, yet the language written on the plane's access panels and such are in English. English is the official language in Malaysia, along with others. Malaysia's main ethnic comunities are ethnic Malays (about 50%), ethnic Chinese (about 30%) and Indians (about 20%- they speak several different indian languages). So English is language that gives this multicultural nation one 'neutral' language... similar to the role English plays in India till this day.
Flex
BTW, the bulges are the ones of the South African/Swedish warning system MSWS made by SAAB-Avitronics (51% Grintek / 49%SAAB). This full-spherical coverage system comprises a radar-warning system to handle pulse Doppler and continuous wave signals, an UV-based MWS, a laser-warning system and an EW controller with integrated computer. It is directly linked to active jammer and chaff/flare dispensers. A nice piece of gizmo. http://products.saab.se/PDBWebNew/PDF/prod...id1305_lan1.pdf http://www.avitronics.co.za/products2.htm
Spongebob
They are also equipped with high-powered radar of the "NO11M Bars" type that can detect up to 15 enemy targets and attack four of them simultaneously. Hmmm. Should have bought Tomcats. They can attack six simultaneously. At least the Sukhoi's don't leak yet. Spongebob

Its one of those 'gashopon' tooys from japan. Its kinda all made up and painted model, a bit rough round the edges. I am trying to re-model it. Below are some shots comparing different flankers in 1/144: From left: F-Toys Su35 (before sanding), Trumpeter Su34, Revell Su27 (with much remodelling). This one with the pathetically undersized dragon flanker... you know which one it is: Sorry for going OT, but i was so excited abt flankers and i wanted to share the info with flankerman and all other fans....! Thanks olemanjoe! I had never heard of the 'gashopon' model - nor the F-toys one. Can you let me have more details - maybe photos of the 'box art' (if there is any?) - and a quick review of what it is like ?? Is it readily availabe ? where from?? I'll add it to my Flanker model kits survey..... http://www.flankerman.fsnet.co.uk/su27surv.htm Cheers Ken
j-basset
The good news is that since we're a friendly nation - one of these days, CVW-5's F/A-18E/F's & 18WG F-15C/D's (or maybe even F-22A's) will get to do DACT with them in joint exercises. VFA-102's F/A-18F's (shortly after they working up on their new jets) DACTed with RMAF MiG-29N's, and 18WG F-15C/D's DACTed with various RMAF types during Cope Taufan in March 2006. Jason Hmmm. Should have bought Tomcats. They can attack six simultaneously. At least the Sukhoi's don't leak yet.Spongebob
