ThePhantomTwo
Our local news has reported a Missouri ANG F-15D went down in Knox County near Vincennes,Indiana, reports are that two were on board and ejected safely.News mentioned a team from the 181st FW,Indiana ANG will be sending a crash recovery team to the site to secure it and provide support for the investigation team.I'll post more as I find anything out. http://www.mywabashvalley.com/content/fulltext/?cid=4012 Our other news station reports now that the jet only had one person, regardless of how many on board the jet,I'm just glad everyone is reporting that pilot/pilots are ok. http://www.wthitv.com/dsp_story.cfm?storyi...uestTimeout=500 Now confirmed to be a F-15C,man gotta love the media on screwing things up. http://www.wthr.com/Global/story.asp?S=6586348 Edited May 31, 2007 by ThePhantomTwo

jetmanf14
Glad to hear the pilot's safe. It's not on any of the national news sites, but on one of my local news websites they say it could be from Terra Haute, and I was like uh, since when did Terra Haute get F-15's? I wonder why there's not a lot of coverage on this? Edit: here's the link. F-15 Fighter Jet Crashes in Indiana Edited May 30, 2007 by jetmanf14
ThePhantomTwo
I know in the past that we have done DACM with the MO ANG F-15's and there is a MOA near Vincennes that a few ANG use on a regular basis. Some pics of MO ANG F-15A's in 2003 when we did DACM with them for nearly 3-4 months in a row.

ThePhantomTwo
Local news said the pilot was able to walk up to the sheriff's deputy when he arrived on scene so that is excellent news. Found out from the news that the 131st FW F-15's were doing DACM with the 181st FW F-16's(four versus four)at the time of the incident at Red Hills MOA,from the witness accounts that were on TV it sounded like he/she punched out at decent altitude as they mentioned at least two of the jet's were circling the pilot as he was coming down after ejection. Photo's show the largest intact piece of the F-15 was one tail and one stab,it also showed two chutes as well resting well apart from each other I guess leading to the speculation that it was a F-15B/F-15D(I believe they only have a B model for training purposes),I imagine one chute's is from maybe from the seat drogue chute. The rest of the pics show a smoking, molten,on fire,20 yard by 20 yard hole. ThePhantomTwo
From varoius sources on the web and TV,I hear it *may* have been F-15D 78-0571,that probably explains the chutes they have shown on TV. 131st FW F-15D 78-0571 F-15D 78-0571 while staioned at Kadena AFB
cag_200
Why? did they changed the F15 colors, this darker scheme is really ruining the looks !
