Hello

Before cutting the first parts I would have a question about the cockpit.

It is drawn on the instruction sheet that the PBJ-1H was a single pilot airplane, on the left side. Is it right ?

Is it true for all the B-25 strafers?

Sincerely.

Patrick

yes patrick. the pbj-1h has two pilots but only one pilot seat. heres a web site for you. and here's a clip from that web site:

www.vmb-613.com/aircraft2.html

Although the PBJ-1H was only equipped with a single set of controls, all of VMB-613's aircraft carried two qualified naval aviators (pilot and co-pilot), with the copilot's primary duties being the operation of the radar gun sight and assisting the pilot. Additionally, the pilot and co-pilot would often switch seats in flight in order to reduce fatigue and maintain the co-pilot's effectiveness in flying the aircraft. The navigator sat in a station behind the pilot and copilot, and had the additional duty of loading the 75mm cannon. Two radio-gunners, whose primary duties were to operate and monitor the search radar and communications equipment, manned single flexible mounted machine guns in the waist positions. Completing the crew, a mechanic-turret gunner manned the top turret, while in the rear, an armorer-turret gunner operated the machine guns in a power-operated tail turret.

good luck. i love the PBJ's

Hello

Thank you very much for the answer and the link.

I like the PBJ as well simply because I prefer the blue aircraft.

My PBJ-1H will be #99 said to be from VMB-614, the unit which missed the fight by a narrow margin in August 1945. It was in three colour camouflage and there was no wing tip radar.

Hi

As I was a little bit tired with the sponsoons of my CH-53E I started working on my PBJ.

So far I have added some details in the bomb bay and around the pilot office.

Everything is from scratch.

Here are the first pictures :

Hi

I have painted inside my PBJ. For the bomb bay after beating around the bush for a long time I decided to make it NMF.

I painted with enamels, after I applied an acrylic black wash and a coat of matt varnish.

I added some nose weight with fishing leads as usual.

For the pilot seat I chose a yellow pad as for the Air Force, but am I right?

I can still change as the canopy has not yet been sealed.

I was influenced by AAF B-25 and B-26.

Hi

Actually, the H-nose was larger than the fuselage. I had to adjust by spacing in front of the nose leg well and gradually gluing.

The wings were easy to put together.

Really good paintjob you did here, she looks perfect !

Too, I really like the details on the inside the aircraft, it's just to bad that most of it isn't that visible anymore now the mainparts are glued together..

I look forward to see some decals and props on this beauty !

Daaaang dude! That is some seriously outstanding work on the cockpit.

The rest is coming along quite nicely as well.

I prefer Guinness myself ;)

Semper Fi,

Beamish too !

Next week-end I'll be in Mainz, Germany to attend a modelling exhibition and this is a beer country as well!

I'm gonna bring my PBJ, so I have to work instead of talking about beverage on this forum.
