Cuz it's gonna snag a Hornet by the underwear and give it a FLYIN' WEDGIE :salute:

That poor Tomcat never ever even got to use it's hook for what it was intended for ... land on a carrier ...

Nice... Is that your shot Henk? Do you have a fairly large collection?

No Dave , this is not my shot , I think it's from Vance Vasquez .

I won't say I have a large collection , but VX-4/9 was one of my favourite squadrons.

I have a friend who was the CO of VX4/9 , so I have quite some slides of VX-4 and VX-9 Tomcats and a little of BH jets !

On this photo you see Vandy 32 which went later on to Santa Rosa for the museum .

If you ever want to do some high res scans of your slides, let me know and I'll start a page for you on the site. I would need them to be at least 1000 pix across with minimum compression and no dust. Looks like you've got some good stuff.

That's a really wierd looking Tomahawk in that last picture, if it is one. The tail section is wrong (it should have four fins, not three), and the underbelly engine inlet is either not there or not deployed. Could that perhaps be a JSOW concept model?

It is a Tactical Tomahawk. I remember when the guys down the hall did that test. Funny, I thought all Tomahawks had three tail fins. I believe this one was sub launched.

That appears to be a rare Vandy 1 Scheme with just the XF on the tail with the stripes ...

Gregg

Hi Gregg ,

This was the first black scheme of the F-14D 164604 Vandy -1 , If I remember correctly , it was done at the paintshop at Nellis AFB , this Tomcat was used as the background for the Disestablish/establishment ceremony of VX-4 / VX-9 30 sept 1994.

Here another photo:

For the fans another nice photo:

jinxx - are those your shots? If so, we need to talk... :salute:

Yes, both were photographed by me in 1980. One is a shot of 8616 at ELP on the way to D-M and the other is after her arrival at MASDC.

Another VX-4 Tomcat , I believe this scheme was used after the "Bunny" was banned !!

Njoy Henk

The bunny was banned? Why would they do that? I thought they had permission to use it in the first place.

Political correctness, the higher-ups said it wasn't appropriate, I think.
