David Hingtgen
This is actually for model railroading, but I figure this forum deals with silver etc a lot more. :) Anyways, I need to quickly paint the frame of a locomotive silver. The 1:1 is painted silver, I don't want a shiny bare polished aluminum look. I want a "smooth silver paint" look. Not sparkly/glittery like most car paint, but also not "imitation bare metal" polished smooth. I'm modeling it as it looked new, so this is what I'm going for: http://railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=75772 http://railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=107056
Old Blind Dog
Tamiya TS 30 Silver Leaf in a rattle can Otherwise I'd suggest Polly Scale ATSF Silver which should match the color on that locomotive perfectly. :) Old Blind Dog Edited August 4, 2007 by Old Blind Dog
David Hingtgen
I have PS ATSF silver, but I want to spray-bomb the frame with an enamel or lacquer. Acrylic just isn't going to stick to the gloss black it currently has.

David Walker
I've only heard good things about the Tamiya TS-30. Edited August 4, 2007 by David Walker

I use this for the silver doped areas on aircraft, if it's too shiny you can give it a quick blow over with a satin or matt finish varnish, (Polly Scale is great). Hope this is of some help to you.
