Jan Manninen's Fencer

Recommended Posts

I think nice job it's an understatement.

The model looks like the real aircraft!

Of course Jan has spent a lot of time studying photos of real Fencers, since the weathering is soooo convincing.

Especially the radome, with that faded gray appearance all Fencers have (except those fresh from the paint shop, of course).

Any tip Jan on how you did it?

Just for when I build my Fencer (in my next life).

Thank you, guys! Your words are truly appreciated. :bandhead2:

No special tricks there. Just the good old paint brush plus diluted enamel and some modeling cosmetics from our Japanese friends.

Firstly, the cone was painted with white spray paint (okay, so I used other methods as well than that good ole' brush). Next very diluted mid gray paint was applied with a brush over the white cone and after that some other shades (at least black), IIRC. Finally a modest amount of black "sooth" from Tamiya weathering set was applied on top of the cone, the finishing touches made with a wet finger.
